MazdaSport Magazine wanting to feature DGRR...
I just recieved an email from someone at MazdaSport Magazine..
This is what they wrote:
So, someone want to volunteer for this?? Anyone with any experience in writing?
PHIL
This is what they wrote:
Phil -
I'm really interested in your event at Deal's Gap - do you have
anyone in your
club who could take a boatload of pictures, and then write up about
1500-2000
words about the event for the magazine? It's too late for the
current issue, but
I'd love to run a big feature on your event later in the year.
We want pics of people having fun, great pics of cars *moving*
against the
excellent Dragon backdrop, and pics of the whole gathering - like
from on top
of a building. Can you do that?

I met Jeff, MazdaSport editor, at GTLive this past year and brought up the DGRR and the possibility of putting the event in the mag. Good to hear that they still remember . Very nice guys and I'm looking forward to hanging with them at GtLive again this year. Anyone that can go to that in October should come. It was tons of fun last year dispite the rain and hopefully even better this year if the weather cooperates (read: no rain haha).

Also, PureMdMa will bring his fancy cam and he has covered maybe car events before so, I'm just going to let them handle the pics.. I don't want too many pics! LOL!
I do want some pics for the Video though.. If anyone is bringing their camera, please bring your cables to the computer so that I could upload on to my computer..
thanks!

Lots of volunteer's for pic's, but I can add one more. My passenger is some sort of photographer, and planned on taking pic's for the group also. I will have the laptop and cables to get the footage to who needs it.

I have a couple of photographer friends with professional digital cameras. I'll see if they'd like to come. (or let me borrow the camera for the weekend) I'll call them right now... LOL
We can also create a thread where everyone posts their magazine-worthy pix, then like 2 or 3 people go through them and choose the best ones.
Phil, you have the power to close threads, right? We can have a cut-off date sometime in May or June for all the photos to be submitted, and that way not just one person is taking all of the pictures.

Well, I'm hoping to get everyone's picture During Dinner at Fontana. I'll have my computer and upload everyone's picutre then. Its a simple plug and play and all I need is your camera cable to the computer.
Regarding Video, I need to know how many of you will be bringing a mini DV camera.

One of the requests from MazdaSport is for “pics of the whole gathering - like from on top of a building”, and I assume the emphasis is on getting at lease one shot of all of the cars together. If we meet in the same spot as the last 2 years and we have more cars this year, we are going to be packed in like sardines, and I don’t think there is any good spot that has a vantage point needed to get the kind of picture they want. The closest you could get would be similar to the one that was used in the RX Tuner article. It would be better if we could get a better angle, where you could see more of the cars, but having possible twice as many cars as last year will make that even tougher.
Does anyone remember if there is enough room at the bottom of the dam for everyone to get together and if you can get a good enough shot from the observation area at the top of the dam? If that doesn’t work, does anyone have any other ideas of how to get a good group shot?

I think we should all get video footage if we can, and compile a DGRR07 video!!!

That's the spot we were going to use last year for the meet except it rained... Someone will need to contact the TVA to get permission to use it, there are a few forms and stuff to fill out.

I suppose with a good zoom and a better position it could be done.

And the Revolution...
Thats awesome. Damn I'd love to write an article for this. It will be cool just to see my car in a magazine. As if it hadn't been said enough, you rock Phil. Thanks for giving us all the chance to hang out. I only live an hour from the dragon so its not a big deal for me but damn I love to see all the people and cars. I had a great time last year even with my little mishap so once again I just wanted to say thanks man.
