Get your car READY for DGRR!!
I just wanted to remind those of you attending DGRR 2008....
Get your car ready now instead of waiting til the last minute!!
I know we all like to procrastinate and wait til the last minute to do things.. but just to be safe and to eliminate brake downs and such, do your maintenance and installing your mods now and test them before coming up to the DGRR.
One of the most important thing I recommend for everyone to do is to make sure your BRAKE is in excellent working condition. This might be the best time for you to check, flush, rebuild, your calipers and such. I'm currently in process of rebuilding my front and rear calipers and going to put some good synthetic brake fluids in. I dont want my car to loose braking just before some hair pin corner...
Next thing, make sure your engine and tranny isn't leaking with any fluid! This is bad for your car but also potential hazard for people on the same road as you... especially Bikers! If I see a car with bad leaks at the event, I'll politely ask you NOT to run US 129
Of course its still your choice to run it but hope you'll realize the hazzard of leaking fluids on one of the dangerous road in the country.
Another thing... Make sure your interior is clean! I don't mean it in sense of having shiny dash or spotless carpet What I mean is get rid of your trash, soda cans, excessive change, what ever you have in your car that could roll around and or even fly out the window. This could be bad for you and hazardous to another driver.
Finally, And I know I said this before and will continue repeat myself at the event..
US 129 aka Deals Gap aka Tail or the Dragon, aka Dragon, IS NOT a Race track!!! Its a PUBLIC ROAD!
So, that being said, Don't drive like a mad man thinking you are about to win Million Dollar race! There are MANY consequences if something goes wrong, so be smart about what you do up there. SO becareful, be safe, and be cautious.
Its like any other public road and what you do up there is your own responsibility...
And for the younger crowd who watches too much Fast and Furious... TOKYO DRIFT!! DGRR 2008 WILL NOT ALLOW DRIFTING and WILL NOT ALLOW BURN OUTS AT Nantahala Village!! Anyone I see or hear about doing such things will be asked to leave the area and LEOs will be called if you DON'T leave.
Remember! When you attend DGRR 2008, you are representing the community.. So before you decide to do something stupid, think about that! Don't be selfish and think about others. It only takes select few to ruin a good time for hundreds...
