I pulled over because that was only my second time thru and you guys looked like old pros... We know the snowman as Whitey on the RX-8 sites. And yes he has an awesome car. Plus he only lives about 15 minutes from the Dragon so he gets a lot of practice. We are trying to get ours up to his level, but the finances only allow for a mods every 3-6 months. Glad yall had a good run!

What color was the mustang? On the FB run we kept pushing up on a dark grey one. We pulled over twice to give us some breathing room and still managed to catch back up with it both times!

The exhaust note was good, especially when accompanied by the fireworks!
I think we did an awesome job of representing the FB's!

Sky blue, it wasn't me, the only vehicles that caught up to me in a non traffic setting were kroch-rockets with good riders on them.

Actually, I am not Whitey, I registered as Abdominal Snoman when I first got the 8 in september of 04 and posted once I believe. That is my 4th trip to the dragon in the last year. Once to get a speeding ticket, and two more trips trying to go to court. Ask noxlupus about it, he was with me when I got the ticket. The car is 99% stock except for being the very first RX-8 to get Ohlins suspension. Ohlins had my car for a month and I got it at cost and still spent over $2400 on it. I didn't care too much because I was in Germany for work / driving on the Nurburgring. (heaven. . . sigh)

ROFL, well that too.

So yea about this ticket... So it's 4 of us: two Miatas (Red one, Grey One), 300Z (Blue) and AbdominalSnoman's Blue RX8. So leading the pack is the Red Miata and the RX8. We are flying down a straight away (not at the Dragon yet) we pass these two vehicles... LEGALLY I might add...well if you disregard the fact we were doing around 90 in a 45 zone.

At this point we left the Z and the Grey miata behind. About an hour later we stop on one of the overlooks on the dragon and just wait for the other two to catch up. About 30 mins after we stopped, the Z pulls up. We are just BSing there cars turned off, etc. We make jokes about how the last guy (the grey miata) must have been pulled over and watch him pull up with a cop tailing him.... 30 mins later he show up... WITH a cop behind him.

The cop proceeds to give everyone a ticket for passing illegally and for speeding. Apparently, he stopped the grey miata took his license and then sped off to catch the Z but never did. So then he drives back to the pulled over miata and tells him to take him to our meeting spot. Keep in mind that he never even knew about the Red miata nor AbdominalSnoman's (RX8) were even there until he sees us socializing with the guy in the Z.

Anyway... so AbdominalSnoman goes up a few weeks later to court only to find out that the officer had a class and wasn't able to attend court. So they are given a continuance. The following court date, AbdominalSnoman had to go out of states on a business trip. So he ask the drive of the Red Miata to either ask for a continuance or pay his ticket. The Court wouldn't have it. They claim that only the accused could do either, but not someone else for him.

To make an already long story short... AbdominalSnoman calls and calls and he's given the run around. NC puts out a warrant for his arrest and has SC suspense his licenses for failure to show up to court / pay his tickets.

Now those of you who was hanging with us know the story behind us saying: "Leave all men behind".

If you listen to it carefully, you'll notice that there's two different exhaust that you can hear... if you listen to the shift points you can tell that you're listening to two different once. Either way I must say it does sound really good the mixing of the two.

Could be mine and his, our tones were very similar from what I could tell in watching the videos Ian & Billy made.

As for one of those tickets, I do know in SC its illegal to overtake more than 1 vehicle at a time. Been there, done that! If that happened to me, I don't think I'd let the miata guy go on anymore runs with me. He should have just played dumb and not got the rest in trouble!

well legally the cop could not have given you the ticket unless he had video or some sort of other means of proving for the fact that it was indeed you the one that was driving the car plus he should have had puled you over when you was speeding and not after the fact. I say hire a lawyer and go sue the **** out of them for harrasment.

I'll try to explain this somewhat:

The Ploice Officer had Probable Cause to believe that these vehicles were the same vehicles that he observed speeding. The fact that they were possibly doing 90mph in a 45mph zone they should consider themselves lucky not to have gotten a Wreckless Driving ticket or even worse, charged with Reckless Endangerment since they passed other vehicles at such a high speed, which would have been an arrestable offense (Not bitching here at you guys, I drive that way to sometimes, just stating what I know). Most states recognize an Officer to be trained to visually observe what is "Reasonable and Prudent" speed. Basically means cops don't need a radar to ticket. I know no one said anything about radar but I threw that in for good measure.

Here's the problem with taking things like this to court: If this officer observed the vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed and could see how many vehicles it was and the colors and makes of those vehicles then if he can articulate that in well in court 99.9% of the time the court will side with the officer. And since he wrote you guys tickets then he knows the make, colors, year, model and everything else he needs to say, "I observed a Red Mazda RX-7 traveling at a high rate of speed that exceeds what would be a Reasonable and Prudent limit for this stretch of road way." And so on...kind of hard to beat that.

I'm not saying not to fight it but just remember they committed a misdemeanor offense and in most states an Officer has one year to charge a person for a misdemeanor before bringing them to court. So he could find out that you're fighting it and uprgrade the charge from Speeding to say Reckless Endangerment. Again this is how things work in Alabama and I think they're the same in TN but not sure about NC. Also doesn't mean the cop always wins but this stuff does happen.

Just something to think about.

Brad

He spoke to a lawyer earlier and he said because he missed his court date, that he should just pay the fine. There's not much he could do at this point. So he did. Don't think he'll be fighting it. And if he did, he would probably just be wasting more time going to court only to find out that the officer in question is off on some class again, etc.
