is there a way to when i use the search function i can only search on a specific car. for example if i want to search information on 3rd gens i want the search function to search in the 3rd gen sections only

Yes.

Click on the Search link and choose "Advanced Search".

When the Advanced Search page loads look to the bottom right for the "Search in Forum(s)" section. Scroll down to 3rd gen (or whatever section) and highlight it then perform your search.

You can select multiple sections by pressing Ctrl and clicking on multiple options.

Another option is to go to the section you want to search and at the top of the section just below the page number is an option to "Search this forum" that search will search only from the threads in that particular forum section.
