Photos: File attachment vs user-coded
Hey,
It's not really forum preferences but perhaps have a quick blurb on which to use with each post submission? I have found it increasingly frustrating sometimes when I do searches for pictures of diagrams or walk-thru but each post has the photo user-input and ends being a dead link because the post is 1+ years old! I prefer the file attachment for better reasoning:
User-code via VB coding (i.e.
This method is only good b/c the photo is right there and large in-your-face type. However, usually, these are photos hosted by the user temporarily. Say a month or two later, they clear up space on their hosting server and delete the image as well...and bam, that diagram or photo will be a dead link within that post. It's just bad.
File attachment:
These photos are small thumbnails BUT will always be attached and will not be dead photo links say 1-10 years later. Reference is only good reference if all the original content stays active within that post.
