Megasquirt sub-forum

It seems as though Megasquirt is becoming a popular way to do engine management for RX-7s, especially with the new megasquirt now implementing ignition control. It's becoming a complicated matter. I'm suggesting a new sub-forum under the engine management forum be made to discuss Megasquirt strictly for RX-7s. What do ye say?

I believe this would be an excellent addition, but we do need to proceed with caution...msefi.com already has a ton of info.

Personally, I have 1 Megasquirt assembled and waiting to go on an RX7, 4 more are pending assembly...2 of which are going on RX7's.

I think it's a good idea. Although msefi already has a ton of info, that site deletes threads once people don't post to them for a while...

Oh yeah, and just to clarify, it's the same old megasquirt with some added circuits to condition the signal from the CAS, and a firmware called MSnS-extra. A guy on the megasquirt forum that goes by jsmcortina got rotary leading/trailing ignition very close to working, and then I fixed the remaining single bug that was causing problems.... and I added the option to control FC trailing or FD trailing.... This hasn't been tested in a car, but it looks perfect on the oscilloscope.

I believe there's a guy (pmrobert on this forum) that is going to be testing it in car this weekend, then I'll be testing in tofuball's car in the next few weeks.

I'm also going to post a full write-up as clearly as I can (there's a lot of info to cover) on setting up the megasquirt to do leading/trailing ignition, the extra circuits to condition the CAS signal, the mods necessary to get the ignition signals out of the megasquirt, how to control the BAC valve to get full closed-loop idle control, etc....

Back to the original topic though.... I think a megasquirt sub-section is a good idea.

Oh yeah, my howto isn't going to include the wiring harness in the car... this can be done with just a megasquirt wiring diagram and the wiring diagram from the FSM.

I suggested this months ago and was shot down. Now that half of all the threads in the open EFM forum are MS related, I ask again, why not??
