Forum?
Forum?
Guys!! I haven't been around here in quite a bit. How is the forum going? I honestly quit comming here because it was painfully slow and always gave me error messages. I even got those "We want you back" Emails and I'd click on them only to get an error message so I kinda gave up. I'm on the BMW forum all the time even though I don't own one any more.
I still have the RX though. I've been threatenting to sell it, but i havn't gotten around to that yet. It NEVER gets driven. Anything new and exciting going on in the RX world? Is the forum still over run with F&F kids under 20? I remember back when we had about 300 members and it was a wealth of information and devolved over the years into 50 questions about which BOV was the loudest.

Cliffnotes: Jason and Ryan fought over it, Ryan won. Ryan sold it about this time last year to Internet Brands.
As far as I know Jason still has the store.
Does Jason still have the store? Need info
I remember the announcement that Ryan had taken over the forum. Looks like he was just after a quick buck. The forum is still slow as hell and now has totally lost it's soul. Well, I guess it's back into hiding for me. That's too bad. This used to be a really nice place to come and hang out and get some good information. The car should be gone soon enough too so I guess I can wash my hands of this whole thing. Too bad really.

I wish you the best though

Ryan kept the board for a couple of years before selling it, because he couldn't afford to upgrade the servers again and wanted the forum to keep running well. I would hardly say that he sold it for the quick buck. Making stuff up doesn't make it correct there Donovan.
And soul? yep if we have people bitching and whining and unable to see the good things or the forest instead of the trees, then, yep I wish those people would go back into hiding. As this place is too good for them.
IB has put the forum on newer faster servers, and increased the speed quite a bit. So, if there is something slow... perhaps it is on your end? Crashes are very rare now (unlike the regular crashes back in the day).

It sure seemed like a big deal for him to keep it when all that went down, but I haven't been around so I can't really comment on that. I guess I'm wrong, but who cares anyway right?
Give me a break son, people have been bitching about this form going down hill for at least four years. That's why we lost a bunch of the true old timers in the first place. I was a hard core rotor head for years. I bought my car when it was still almost new and took it to the tracks and to the 7stocks like a good owner should. It just feels like it's not the close group of friends that it used to be. It could have some so do with the general attitude around here
I don't have trouble getting to the site, it's worked fine for me for the past four years that I've been a member. It's pretty damn fast too. I still enjoy the forum, but there are a few things that bother me, and it's not the way the forum is operated. I know I haven't been around all that long, but I feel it's a pretty friendly place to come and post.
I think I remember signing up about 4 times. I think I was here in 98 when there were very few members and the "big list" was the main rotory scource of info.

Either way, their are quite a few members here that remember the server crashes of 02, or Batman or many of the others. So saying that the long term members have gone is not quite right either.

Lucky there are places like this with its 111,024 valid members, that you can discuss them with, help, and meet. Of course some people don't have that passion, as I talked about above... and they just come and visit from time to time, even though they drive other cars. Maybe they dream of that passion and having it in their own lives...and that is why they come here.

See I say that because although I became a member 2 months after you (04-11-01), I don't see the forum any different now, than then. There still are the inflammatory; there still are the trolls; there are still the gurus; there are still the kids with no money and buddies that think they know everything; there are still the newbie kids; and the older guys trying to help, or learn. I guess there still is the same exact community. And each and every member can either contribute and use the board... or they can whine or make trouble. I welcome the ones that contribute and use the board to make their own goals of feeling that Mazda and rotary passion come through.
- "Lazy Eye" headlights
- New (broke) RX-7 owner complains that he can't find a certain car part (only looks for <$50 Ebay parts rather than new parts or good used parts), and asks if that particular cheapie Ebay part from some other car will fit on an RX-7, and then gets pissed because nobody answers the question to his liking (as if there is some secret repository of the billions of compatible part combinations).
- Cheap Ebay coil-over/lowering kits to make a ghetto drift car that supposedly handles better due to the crappy coil-overs, but of course it doesn't, although the saving grace is that the car owner doesn't know the difference.
- Racing is now called "time attack".
- Most forum members finally understand that high octane fuel does not necessarily mean more power, but now they think that the lowest octane fuel gives the best power. Give me a few more years and I should be able to straighten this out, lol.
- The Lysholm supercharger is now the best thing in the world for a rotary engine, despite the fact that no forum members have actually installed one with any success.
- The various EMS factions no longer fight tooth and nail to get customers on this forum, as I think they finally realized that it is a liability to sell an EMS to those who are broke and don't know how to use the product.
- Apparently, there was no such thing as a sports car prior to the invention of the wideband O2 sensor, which is able to instill its otherwise ignorant owner with all tuning knowledge known to mankind.
- Any physics or engineering principles that existed prior to 2005 are null and void unless you have "tried it yourself".
Most of the other usual subjects still exist, such as the synthetic oil debate, the silly home-made CAI ideas, the guy who thinks a Honda T3 turbo will work well on his 13B, people still not understanding the definition of displacement, questions that could be answered simply by reading the FAQ or Searching, etc.
As for the error messages, try this: Go to one of the vB Garage web pages on this site and save it to your favorites. If the forum home page starts giving you the error message, then just go to the vB Garage favorite, and then click on the RX7Club.com hotlink at the top left of the page. This usually works, but I have absolutely no idea why, lol.

YAY Evil. I remember you on here for ever. There are a few names I remember from way back. As far as hacking goes. I was on here the night that the site was hacked and the hacker was changing all the thread titles to Jason sucks ***** and Ryan is an *** hole. They were trying to recover and everyone kept saying PULL THE PLUG. It felt like I was quitting smoking for the few days it was down!!
I believe I was on here proir to my purchase of my '94. I wanted to research it before I bought it.

Maybe we could just post some Lounge-type stuff and get it moved?...
- Who has the hottest GF?
- Check out my new gun!
- Obama is really part of the GWB conspiracy!
- Funny video repost.
- PIIDB!
OK, that should do it.
