edit posts?

will there ever be a feature so we can edit our own post? just curious because im a member of 5+ forums and this is the only one where we cant edit post.. just wondering why? i think it will save useless posts by users just editing their own post.. (example, forsale threads)

Users are allowed to edit posts in most forums for up to 30 minutes. After that you need to request assistance from a moderator.

This is done to keep users from changing the original content of their posts after the fact. Specifically in the classifieds this is done in order to negate key informational changes that may be important if disputes were to arise from a sale gone bad.

In other sections it keeps users from posting something, then going back days, weeks, months, years later and changing the original content and throwing the following posts off-track or rendered irrelevant.

We might consider users being able to close their own posts, however this would have to be agreed upon by all the admin staff.
