To assist in possible prevention of fraud of sales?
On other message boards selling goods, users are mandated to post the username and current date along with any picture of merchandise for sale. This is to help assure other users that the product for sale, is in fact in the hands of the actual user. This would in no way take but a minute to write your name down for pictures you need to take anyway.

I think this might be a good rule of thumb for buyers to request before completing a purchase, but we already ask much of our users when making initial posts.
I'll will toss this to the team to review however.
Thanks!

You mean like write your name and the current date on a piece of paper and stick that in the photos?
I like the idea.
As far as a requirement by the forum, I dunno. But it is indeed a good thing that a buyer should look for.

I dunno...it seems like a good idea but when I think of all the cheesy ways people are going to go about this and the sheer "amateur" look of their efforts...ugh.
It's going to make the classifieds board look all country.

I really believe that this will help out in restoring the trust between buyers and sellers on the board. I'm not saying that this will certainly eliminate bad transactions, but I do believe it will help to ensure members that they are actually going to receive what they're looking at.

I'm in no way trying to accuse this forum member of anything wrong, proof by posted dates of this thread being posted one full day before he posted his thread up.

But in all honesty, his last comment of **Dont have pictures so please dont ask! All in perfect working condition**?? Who's to know all this without proof of ownership? This is not the only thread like this.
Just something to consider.

It boils down to the fact that it is not our job to police transactions...
We simply hook people with a similar interest up.
We will ban most scammers, but most of the rules; Provide a location; Provide a price; etc. Those rules are just for organization and keeping the classified section from getting cluttered.
Buyer beware. It's up to the people involved in the transaction to protect themselves from loss.
Like I said, it's not a bad idea and I think a buyer should request it if they feel concerned... But to implement it and enforce it would take a lot of resources that we don't not have.
