You Should Have Been There RX7 Win at CTMP
Yep, the #723 RX& being driven by Malcolm Strachan and Russ Bond won the GT Class in the Indian Summer 3 Hour Enduro at CTMP this past Saturday. This was great, but what was even more impressive was the car gaining then holding on to 1st place overall for the first 2 laps, then holding on to second place overall until the 75 minute mark. This was done in the rain and on the new NA Carrera slick tires. It was only after the track started to dry out that Malcolm was first passed by a AWD Subaru Legacy Turbo and then a 400 hp Factory supported Hyundai Genesis Turbo. Malcolm regained the position from the Legacy and held second until the end of his stint. After the refueling the track dried out more and the RX7 was passed by a 911 GT3, a turbo Grand Am Cobalt and a couple of other cars, but held on to 6th place overall until a second pitstop was required. This dropped us further down the order but still in the top 10 until a final splash was required with less than 2 laps to go. It was a great race for the pig and it was amazing to see the car running in the race lead pair, over 35 seconds ahead of 3rd place for over an hour. It still ended up in 1st place in GT and the second Nummelin Motorsport Cougar, #68 got second place in class.
A good day for the team and the tires were absolutely awesome in the changing conditions. The #23 RX7 still rules the world, LOL. That's a class win in the last two 3 Hour Enduro's. Hmmm.... this may be a decent race car.

Oh yes, this photo is being shared by the NA Carrera people to all of their customers in South America and other countries. Joe is going to be famous, even more famous than he is right now, LOL...

Saw the car being trailered on Saturday night in the rain on the 401 west bound through Pickering, was curious who and where the car was coming from. Congrats and its always great to see a rotary competing on a track.
I was scheduled to run the second leg in my Cougar, however the car ate a wheel bearing at around the 75 minute mark. Personally, I would have liked to have run the RX7, but. ....

Podium Shot! RX7's rule and I am seriously thinking about running it at Celebration in 2 weeks to see how quick it really is. Its sad to say, but I haven't driven the car myself in a race, since 2013 (embarrassed face).
