Wtf Gas Prices
Wtf Gas Prices
like a 1.20 a litre, hell no. i just filled the 2 big gas cans i use for my snowmobiles at 99.9. which is still pretty depressing, cause its still such a shitty price.
It's terrifically ridiculous. We don't purchase any oil from the region affected. CDN oil is purchased by the U.S. and we are the largest resource to them of it. It's all because oil prices follow international markets. In reality if we followed our own production, demand, and supply we'd still be below a dollar. Disgusting.
I smell a class action, it would be really nice to stick it to an oil company. What annoys me more is the different pricing between the stations in the GTA running under the same franchise. I can almost see a gas station from my home but I can't afford to use it since it is consistently 4-5 cents more than others.
LMFAO hahaha that sucks man. I think I saw one station have gas at 108-ish, I came back like 15 minutes later and saw them lowering it to like 101.GOD I'm screwed when I start driving.

you can represent us, rx7club. When we win, it should go towards a manufacturing facility that could provide us with R&D, parts and full assembly at a cheaper price. 13Bs for $500 CDN taxes in......

The thing I find most stupid is the reason. The hurricane knocked out oil production in the gulf. But think about it, how many of those people down there are consuming normal levels of petrolium? Basically the supply/demand ratio changed slightly and we're looking at oil crisis level prices.
It's just stupid, why won't gov'ts take action and ensure a secure and affordable supply of fuel into the future? eg. Imagine if we ran 10% Ethanol in all areas of north america? We'd be looking at 10% less consumption of petrolium. That's not a long term solution, but it would buy us some time. E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) is probably a decent solution for say 10 years down the line, but we have to get there first! Unless we become communist our oil prices will always be subject to market rates.
Before the naysayers start up:
1. Ethanol is CHEAPER than petrolium at the moment!
2. "Ethanol takes more energy to produce than it can deliver." That's true of petrolium as well. Both are energy mediums, not supplies.
3. It would help out farmers. I don't know if there can be enough supply of corn, etc. to satisfy Canada and the US, but at the moment I don't see a better solution.
4. High octane fuel. Blue flames and high compression turbo engines for all.

The really sad thing is we've already started celebrating pricing the 90cent range. I remember filling up in the high 30 cent range when I first got my license. (And no I am not that old)

Global just did a piece from the GTA. 103 at the shell station that the reporter was in front of. Didn't catch the location, though.
i remember filling up at 35 cents/l, mind u i'm pretty sure i was too young to be driving at that point.
but do u guys think gas will just stay like this, or do think it'll go back down to the 90cent level in a couple of weeks

He's not the only one - mid-30s was just before the first Gulf War. We were bombing around in our Tempos guzzling stubby-neck bottles of beer with Rebel MC blasting out of the windows.

though, i don't recall ever seeing gas in gallons in canada
Now I Feel REALLLLLY Old
I remember my first job, pumping gas at a Supertest Station, later to become a Texaco, then a DX station on Ritson Road North in Oshawa. I used to have to ride my bike to work as I was too young to drive, so I'm not that old (not really). Anyways, regular gas was $.27 a gallon, premium was $.29 a gallon.
Knocker Paving used to fill up their gas powered dump trucks every morning and 50 gallons was just under $15.00, per truck. Just worked out how much it is going to cost me to fill up my tow vehicle, $183.00 OH MY!!!! The truck can pull 15,000 lbs of trailer easily, but it gets 11 miles to the gallon fully loaded and 11 mpg empty. Need to look into an Overdrive diff and fuel injection just so I can afford to make a long tow somewhere.
Times have changed, especially the taxes the Federal Government scams off of our gas prices. Each increase in crude must be worth millions to them.

To my previous post, I should have added that I took a pass on 96.something last night on the way home! I had no cash and no desire to turn around after depositing my pay cheque. Who would have thought I'd see a 25% increase overnight!
