My winter beater is a not-so-pristine silver '85 GSL. My wife's summer car is a very nice but not pristine red '85 GSL and her winter beater is my former daily driver since 1997: a blue '91 Nissan Sentra XE.

Dude! My friend Sayyad has a '73 Mercedez-benz 240D...

Cool car... First time I'd ever seen a mechanically-driven fuel pump and vacuum-operated power door locks. That pump's almost as big as my engine block is.

Unfortunately my '85 GSL IS my winter beater (it's in really great shape, just needs a paintjob) but fortunately I have it. It was either buy this car for $1500 (which it's probably worth in the neighborhood of $3500) or get a newer winter driver to put on the road instead of my '85 F-150 (MINT MINT reg cab, long box, 351W high output, "custom" 5 speed, new paint, lowered, just over 100,000 original kms and I'm the second owner) which there is NO WAY is going to see snow. Besides I can't get anywhere with the damn thing when the roads are wet nevermind snow covered.
I can always use another project, I just wish the revenue side of the table was as easy to keep up. This winter the truck's motor is going to become a low compression EFI 393 cu stroker BEAST (it will eventually be boosted with a pair) which is going to cost me a good sized dollar. And now I've already been planning on a 300 to 350 horse N/A carbed 12A motor for the '85 which is going to need a paint job first. Geeeeez.... Anyone got $20,000 I can spend for them?

Darren

I have to use the '84 GSL-SE that I just bought for winter. This car is in very very good condition. The only rust under the car is a result of an idiot with a mis-positioned jack which caused a bend in the sheet metal seam and then a tiny bit of surface rust... I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about.

Before the car sees the white stuff, I'm going to spray the entire floor, rockers, and wheel wells with rubberized undercoating to prevent any rust. In addition to that, I'm going to have the car oil sprayed.

Is there anything else I could do to prevent this car from rusting until I can get a fresh coat of paint on it (spring time)?
