Why people just can't have nice things.

To start off, I'm aware that what happened is pretty much my own stupidity for having so much faith in people. So please don't bother posting about how it's my own fault, I'm entirely aware of that fact. I live in an apartment complex, that has underground/ covered parking, my car has been under the covered area for the winter. My car has been up on jack stands for a little over a month now, as I'm in the process of redoing the suspension, brakes, etc.

Since I started I've left the four OEM wheels sitting in a stack behind my car. Along with the pile of scrap parts. Yesterday they were there, and the girlfriend and I went to the theatre to see Disturbia (highly recommended). I go down this morning to get some work done before I head to work. Took me 45 minutes because I was distracted by work, but I noticed there was something missing. The wheels were gone. Also two empty tokico boxes (I don't get that). Speaking of which, I seem to have lost the front shock retaining nut that holds the shock to the strut body. If anyone can tell me were to get a replacment I'd appreciate it. I'm also surprised at how long it took for the wheels to get stolen.

Now I don't particularily care, because they were going to be replaced by wider wheels and better tires. What bothers me is the basic principle. People just can't be bothered to work hard for things, they feel it's ok to just take what someone else has put their effort, blood, sweat, tears, and so forth into. I mean I know I didn't make the wheels, but I'm the one paying for the loan that paid for the car the wheels came attached to. Now I have to get another set just so I can get the car off the stands.

Now by a small stroke of fortune, the building rep of one of the other buildings has noticed a car strikingly similar to mine going in and out of the parking area and hanging around my car, also there are cameras that actually work. I spoke to him about 30 minutes ago, and he's going to talk to the person that monitors the camera's tomorrow to see if theres anything to be seen.

With any hope the theives will be caught. Whether I get the wheels back or not, I'm not too worried about it. But people need to learn. It's not yours, don't touch it. You didn't pay for it, you didn't work for it, you showed up, no one was around and you figured why not, I won't get caught. Well many people may not believe in it, but I do. Karma bitch, karma. You'll get yours. The sad thing is, all these people had to do was ask, and I probably would have given them the wheels. One is dented and is of no use unless they want to spend the money to get it fixed.

If anyone in the London, Ontario area knows of anyone with a new set of OEM GSL wheels, please do let me know. I'd rather settle this the old fashioned way and leave the police out of it, but I'll take what I can get.

Thanks for listening to my rant, and again, I know it's my own fault, but that's what I get for having so much trust in people I don't know.

Chris

That sucks...I'll keep my eye out for anyone running around with those wheels...

Seriously, this city is going to the crapper. It's bad enough that the driving is worse then Toronto, and the fact that my GSL-SE was vandalized at the storage yard, and I've just had to install cameras at our house (after yet another break in attempt on one of our cars), but now people are stealing OEM wheels?!

heh, it would be pretty clasic to figure out who the guy is and steal 'em back. Then put 'em in the same place, but locked up this time.

Well, out of the whole pile of scrap parts, only the wheels and the two boxes were taken, and if one of the building reps took them, I'm pretty sure they would have left a note saying they had cleaned up my mess. And if I do find out who took them, I was thinking of taking their wheels and mine, and leaving the car on blocks, or maybe right on the ground, let them deal with that ****. I was also tickled by the idea of completely dismantling their car and leaving it neatly scattered around their driveway. Or maybe just torch it... but I think that goes against the whole karma thing I was talking about earlier. I'll definitly take my own wheels back at least. I really just want them back so I can finish up my work and get to driving her again. I miss the thrill my baby gives me

No pics of the ones that were stolen, except on some shots I took of the whole car, but they mysteriously disappeared off my hard drive. They are just The stock 13 inch X wheels. they were in decent shape, the black stripes were still there, only a little bit of chipping. The new ones were apparently painted 4 different colours, so Sam stripped them, now they're completely silver. I'm thinking of shooting them with some flat black, just to change the look a bit, but I'm not sure if I want to bother.
