Yep, that's my most comfortable line for my 4 exit/5 entry...that's the only way I can get the car settled enough to brake. When the tires (and more importantly my brain) are warmed up, I just do a little lift, turn in very very slightly before the crest then I'm back on the throttle and flat immediately after the crest. I got to try a bunch of different lines though. Allan (bimmer sprints racer) was with me my last time out and we did a lot of off-line sessions.

You have no idea how many times I've watched your vids comparing where you brake and when you get on the power. In your 1:38 vids, it looks like you still have a bit of traction to spare (espeically in turn 8) but you're managing your tires to last. I still think I'll run out of revs if I leave it in 3rd for turn 1. I'm way past 7000rpm at the bridge as it is. Only 10 more days till I get to try though. Any vids of your attempts at 1 flat?

It bugs me that I just can't get my entry speed into 3 any faster too...you're entering with sooooooo much more speed. Yeah, I know it's a little foolish even comparing my 20 days at Mosport to your 400 (probably more like 600 since race laps should be weighted higher) plus prepped car but I might as well aim high.

Well kids, the only people I know who do 4 flat are ALMS LMP1/2 cars (aero downforce) and Honda Michelin/Miata cup cars (not going very fast). Everyone else I know and have been out with there is a quick stab of the brakes going into 1 and 4 to get the car settled then ease back into the throttle. I went out on Monday with 2 drivers I consider to almost pro's, one run the Ferrari challenge, the other has drives a Trans-AM/American GT car, and both of those guys dont take 4 flat!
As to my other point about 7/10ths etc at Mosport, the problem is YOU THINK your only going 7/10ths.......until its too late. The trick is to start slow enough that even if you run offline you dont get loose, then slowly start to creep up on it.

Jim, it was in my car sorry to say, lol. Darn near lock to lock gathering it up. It looked like a windmill inside the cockpit for a while. Not pretty.

Shane, I have taken 4 flat a few times (granted at about 160), when all the stars aligned, but it got me so out of shape for the braking zone in 5 that it was actually slower.

I have also done 8 flat about 5 times in my RX7 life. It used to be flat in the Suzuki. The RX7 is so on edge that it is not worth it and the tires get cooked in about 2 laps. I only play with lines in 8 now. Call me and I will fill you in on a few tricks for your Solo 1. They are worth a bunch of time (almost 1 second), but your car has to be stable and you have to be on the ball.
