I'll be there all weekend too!

Not sure when I'll be downtown - I'll let you know.

Where are you sitting for the race? Or are your tickets a bit more "Priviledged"?

Damn - I'd say that's priviledged!

If you have a few spare passes for the USGP that you can't use, let me know - I'd be delighted to take them off your hands! lol

I'll post when I know my schedule - and we can hook up for a beer.

I'm in town for the entire GP... Won't be coming out to the actual race as I just spent my last $600US (that's about $3billionCA ) on a speeding ticket and an exhaust for my soon to explode engine.

I do believe I am making the trip up with a couple friends of mine. Don't know where we will be sitting, but would love to meet up somewhere.

WoW... What a weekend. Full update tomorrow, I'm wiped out. Sorry I was unable to check back with the board. 2am every night on Crescent or Peel.

Kimi hookup is w/Mercedes Canada and Hugo Boss.

CRAZY weekend for me. damn was it hot!
the race was...well, many many words to describe it, lol. but it was an exciting one.

and a total surprise this year for me, Mazda was there with their Star Mazda cars, i really enjoyed that race! nothing like the sound of those multi side port engines! too bad i didn't get time to go see them in the pits.

Crescent street was awesome, props to Honda.
Jag had a little more relaxing street, but i liked the patio bars they had.
BMW had a great showing on Saturday night on Peel, with M cars on display. those rear engine M1s were wicked to see!
all of Montreal city was great as usual, the only bad thing is it made waking up in the morning harder

Kimi showed up tonight, for about 45 mins. but was hoarded. Danny Sullivan, Paul Tracy, Steve Nash and other CDN celeb's showed up too. More later if I ever recover.

Yup - Grandstand 33 - I was there too!

Great weekend as ever. A lot of sun and a lot of beer. Like Jason I'm still feeling the effects. If the late nights and heroic beer intake didn't do it - then the sun surely did!

Now on to Indy! I'll post some pics when I get back.

I was in 34!

I got tones of pics from the Star Mazda paddock that I'll post up soon. They're running stock Renesis motors (incl intake) but interestingly enough they have peripheral exhaust ports (with standard headers), not the multi ports from the Renesis. I asked a couple mechanics about it and they didnt know ****... they simply said Mazda gives them the motor and they bolt it in. No rotorheads there.

damn you people and your grandstands, lol

so, they are running peripheral exhaust ports??
wow, that is interesting news...if this is true, i wonder what internal components they are using...
because if they are using stock renesis intake ports, i believe they would get considerable overlap with conventional 13b pp exhaust. getting the claimed 240hp would be hard without some sort of large overlap...

oh, i have a bit of video, including the Star Mazdas flying by, if anyone wants to host...

wow, who watched USGP?

so sad that something like this could happen. don't know who to blame though...Michelin...FIA...
although this all makes me hate the governing body even more...

F1 is quickly becoming a joke. Regardless of who's to blame.

I have a very good family friend who was a MASSIVE F1 fan. I mean huge fan. He kept his own detailed stats sheets throughout race's, followed every driver. He would watch live regardless of what time it was on, magazines, articles, web forums, model cars, just unbelievable. He packed it all in the day Barachello pulled over to let Shumacher by(don't remember what race) He just lost all faith in the sport. To him (and I agree) it was fixing a race and that was it. He didnt even know about todays events I had to inform him. Sad really.

yeah, it is sad.
i mean, it looses the whole meaning to the word "race", and instead becomes a showcase for manufacturers and marketing.

i can only imagine the people who spent good time and money to go see that...and there were a lot of them i'm sure

I blame both Michelin and the FIA but mostly Michelin for todays events. Michelin should have been prepared for todays race and they obviously did not do their homework. The 9 degree bank on corner 13 is no mystery, it's always been there and they should have known the high stress that would be put on the left tires, especially when the same tires have to be used all weekend.

A partial blame goes to the FIA for putting the one tire rule in place, this rule alone is making this sport even more boring than before and dangerous.

yeah, they have run the USGP how many times now?? i think that is the 5th or 6th year, and only now they have a tyre problem? who knows, maybe it would have been different if the rules were different and they would be allowed to change...

but i think what should have done is an alternate tyre should have gotten approved, no matter if it offered less performance or not, and all the Michelin teams should have gone out for the first lap with the "bad" tyres, and then pitted and put on the approved tyres. one pit stop more and getting a slower tyre approved is a small price to pay considering the damage that has been done to Michelin, the teams, and formula 1 as a whole...

Michelin did get some other tires shipped in time for sunday morning but after a few test laps, the improved tires had the same problems.
