Who Knows Nikki

anyone in the area have a nikki carb that works i can buy...

or anyone have the know how to rebuild one of mine? i've got
2 carbs here, one is stripped, the other isn't, both have sat and need rebuild

let me know if you have something, or maybe could rebuild one of mine
for a fee. what i need is a stripped nikki because i'm ditching all emissions

its kind of crazy, i can't even believe we're doing it, but we just threw a motor in my car borrowed from Feds, not even knowing if the damn thing is gunna run or not, haven't fully installed it yet, but either way i need a good carb

well, Feds....how much faith do you have in this motor? i keep telling dufourmike that i have no faith in the pulses, but he keeps yelling at me telling me it isn't important....

the only reason im even bothering with this engine is because mike doesn't really care about loaning his time to help me install the damn thing. if it wasn't for mike i'd be going with my original plan, and get a motor that i know runs....but hey we might get lucky

but if you have any info feds, i'd love to hear it. so far its in the car, mated with the tranny....we still need to put the mounting bar on, and the water pump, then hook up the essentials...god i hope it works

I have a Nikki that ran when I pulled it... I doubt it's ever been rebuilt, everything on it is still intact, nothing removed. Mighty dirty though...

Did mike not tell you details?

In brief: b\came out of a parts car that I bought for its interior.

P.O. said he blew a fuel line and stuck it in his back yard, so it ran when parked. According to the odometer, it had ~165k on it when it was parked.

So that's as much history as I have. It makes 6 storng, even pulses. It'll run.

thank you

mike told me you bought it as a parts car, and that's it

at least now i know a little more and have a little more faith...

but i have an engine here that i already bought, which we have deemed no good, and it has stronger pulses, so i dont' know why im messing with this thing. i don't hear 6 strong pulses at all. i hgear 4 weak pulses (listening on the exhaust side, maybe that's why? im no expert). this is what mike wanted to do.....not me, and now im stuck doing it by myself. im goign to shut up now before i **** somoneone off.

just talkied to dufourmike

he says that the motor probably doesn't sound like its making much pulses
cuz it doesn't have hardly any oil in it. hopefully that is the case

i dunno...i recall seing a video of someone turning over a motor that was just rebuilt/streetported, and it was up on its side, making very very loud pulses, i don't suppose that engine would be full of oil. but i dunno.....just trying to learn here

Are you turning it over by hand, or with the starter?

Here's what you need: alternating pulses from each housing, with no breaks. It's best to hear them from the spark plug holes, b/c that's where you have the most compression. As long as you have front/rear/front/rear/front/rear, you'll be fine.

im turning it over by hand, and listening to the exhaust side....it will alternate back and forth about 4 times, then there is a break, where the pulses are very very weak, then back to the good 4 alternating pulses
