Where to get insurance?
I was just wondering where you guys have your automobile insurance. I have to take my car in to have a "check point inspection" and I have a feeling I will be dropped after they see the car has some modifications done to it.
When I have called around for insurance quotes they have not wanted to insure a vehicle that has had any changes from oem.
I called silver wheel but because my name is not on another insurance policy they will not take me.
Any suggestions?

I wouldnt do the checkpoint. if the ins company drops you, you will have trouble getting ins from other companies, let alone being subject to greatly increased rates.
try one of the ones that offers signup online or over the phone.

It really all depends on the inspector that looks at the vehicle. Some will just overlook everything, whereas some will send all the details to the insurance company.
If they do throw a fuss about your mods and want to cancel your policy, ask if you can cancel it by your own request instead of them cancelling you. If it gets cancelled for non-disclosure, you'll have a hell of a time getting insurance at any sort of reasonable rate.
If you have stock parts, you should put your car as close to stock as possible before the inspection.

From my experience, it's pretty random for most of the companies to order an inspection on renewals. Sometimes they just overlook it and issue the renewal, other times it may just be an underwriter trying to cover his/her *** and doing it 'by the book'.
Alot of the companies will order an inspection on new policies with older vehicles (15+ years), especially if you are asking for physical coverage.
