8:00 am Rendezvous at Langley Cineplex, we often stage from here due to its central location in the lower mainland. Our route follows the main rail line out from the Port of Vancouver. That train was travelling at very high speed. Got to get that Potash to market.
Yes that is frost on the benches. Golden Ears mountain peaks in the background.
Trees either had no leaves or the leaves were too green. Sun is not getting very high in the sky making lighting challenging. The guy with the real camera still got some good shots. The mighty Fraser which originates in the Rockies 800 miles away was very serene today. Last year at this time it flooded about half the valley causing likely over $4 billion damage and taking out all our major highways linking to the rest of Canada. Final stop was at Historic Fort Langley, a Hudson's Bay Company outpost built about 1830. We were hogging the tour bus parking spot, but the tourists did not seem to mind. I was surprised to discover statue behind the cars commemorates "The Beaver", the first steamship on the Westcoast. My Great-Grandfather was the engineer on that ship.
Hunt for cool late autumn shots continued. Searched Google earth for a twisty bit of road out in the country. Landed on the North end of 272st in Langley where the road drops sharply down a ravine to the farmland in the valley floor.
Google earth screen grab. Google earth photo dated November 2020.
Iconic photostop enroute (near Derby Reach).
