Transmision rebuilders

Cant power shift into any gear, have to slowy shove it in. Basicaly grinds if i push it into quickly. Probably the common syncros etc, but i want it all new inside inc any upgrades Mazda has changed in the years.
I spoke to Jim before, but if i remember correctly he said he can fix certain things but not a full rebuild.

Kind of off topic, but does anyone know if there are parts available to upgrade the synchros in a stock FC NA tranny. I plan on rebuilding mine soon when I'm at trade school and I have all the tools at my disposal. I know it needs new synchros and bearings, so I figured if I could get a hold of better ones than stock, that's the way I'll go.

At the exchange rate we are seeing today, the trans alone would cost him over $600CDN, then theres shipping which won't be too cheap, then duties. That would wind up costing him around $800CDN. Maybe more. Not trying to turn business away from you, but thats the price of living in Canada. We have to look nationally first.

If you were to completely replace the internals of the tranny, it would probably cost more than $800. If your gearsets are still in good shape, and all you need it new synchros and bearings, a rebuild should be relatively cheap. Another thing you have to worry about with shipping is customs. A part that I had shipped got caught at customs, and they had to inspect it AT MY COST. That added almost another $20 to the cost of the part. Not a big deal but that **** adds up if you're working on a budget.

Yeah, if alot of internals are needed outside of syncros and shift forks then it'll add up - but if your core is not in complete disrepair it should be fairly reasonable.
All work done by Wolfe transmission.

As long as there's no shafts/gears damaged, my trans rebuild was under $600 CDN by a long standing company. Complete with a warranty.

once you get the clutch figured out, it's not too bad to drop the trans. May as well get a new clutch while you're in there, the exedy twin is fantastic.
I too vote the "new" route over used, it's going to last longer and if you're abusive to it (powershifts, drag racing, etc) it's going to stand up to that better.

very seldom do the gears wear out if anything its either the syncros or the clutch hub sleeves which are both fairly cheap from mazda, the rebuild kits are pretty cheap too, tranny rebuilds arent as bad as people think, the special special tools needed are a long socket you can make by cutting a impact socket and welding a piece of pipe in between, and some straps for the gear puller
heres some really good "how to's" on rebuilding an FD tranny http://www.davidgeesaman.com/ **it lists the upgraded parts with part # for all the upgrades
the FC tranny's are basically the same internally with few minor differances
***** if your having problems getting into every gear while its running, it could just be your pilot bearing onits way out*****

Since there are two guys that need replacement transmissions, why dont you get together and split the shipping? Or find a 3rd buyer and spit it three ways... I will give a break on price if you guys can do some sort of quanity order.. Shipping one trans is about the same as shipping 3 or for of them...
