to the Toronto Area Members.

season blast-off held by the DRJ hosted for EVERYONE of the tuning community! whether you mod your car alot or just have a few little things done to it, we hope to see as many RX7's out as we can. I'm hoping to get ours out for the meet too, as long as we get an engine for the beast.

Well, if you didn't notice the host, it is the j-body club giving the invitation. So for sure you'll see more than a few "riced" out vehicles.

While this is a good gesture, I would not want to attend this.
Simply because with these type of "get togethers" there is guranteed to be cops around.
Not to mention a few idiots who end up doing burnouts or driving insanely fast in a cramped space.

Last thing I need is some kid in his Mom/Pop's car running into one of our cars.

It all depends on what your definition of "rice" is. I'm in a domestic only cause it actually challenges me for the modifications as there is so few things out there for these cars.

The DRJ works with local police forces against the driving like morons and most of our tuner base is generally the older 25+ crowd looking for something that's cheaper on gas and most of the time, work for GM.

Most of the time, the "kids in mom/pop's cars" are stuck up snobs, which acording to the posts other than your own, seems to be a few of the RX7 owners here. such a shame really, beautiful cars they are.

So, before you make generalizations, please, look into these kinds of things and open your eyes to the full tuning community.

EDIT : disclaimer, this post has nothing against neo, or lawyers spirit.

Maybe my post was unclear. It was directed and the 7 owners in this thread not the original thread starter. All the thread starter did was invite people, which is very nice. I love seeing modded cars of all kinds since inspiration can be found anywhere. But I doubt my car will be on the road that early so I will not be able to make it. But I encourage you to keep inviting us.

J-body is the platform name for GM's Cavalier-Sunfire/Sunbird/Firenza/Cimaron (etc? - probably a Buick nameplate in there from the '80's too).
As far as the invite goes, these can be a great idea - here in Calgary, the Nifty-Fifties Ford Club has done an all-makes, all years meet in the spring, that you have to show up real early for if you want to get your car in, because loads of people come out, and lots of people drop in on during to day - a good mix and mingle for car-guys.

I was happy to had seen what you had posted. after I had made my post I had finished reading the thread and put a disclaimer at the bottom. personally, I have nothing agiainst you for that, and I look forward to meeting you and hopefully the person who I'm attempting to get an engine from for my brother's 7.

suprisingly there was no buick platform that I can re-call.

the DRJ has been doing this for years and we get support from a few different clubs in our area. some of those clubs aren't around as much anymore sadly, but we still have quite a few mini-truck clubs and a few local import groups out also. this will be my first year being able to make it and we're looking to a larger turn-out than last years approx. 70 cars. we're looking to completely fill the lot this year.

I don't really think anyone here (including myself) was really trying to be insulting. Just poking fun at the guy.

But hey, my car actually has seen natural rain! Unlike Neo, who's car has only been wet when washed in a vacuum using pure Colorado spring water shipped directly from the mountains in hermetically sealed glass vials.

Aaron,

Let me remind you the last few times I attended the Ottawa meet I took the FD. Which of course got drenched and completely filthy throughout the weekend.

That was the last time she saw rain.

Ideal weather conditions are a must for my car to show up.

Dead_Eye,

So it's like that huh?
We'll see come the end of the year when you owe me that favor regarding a new car!

I'll bet $10 that you have crashed into more rx-7's than anyone else who will be at that meet.

Insurance goes on the car April 1st. Now it's all up to the weather to have washed away the salt by then...

Ha, true! And I was not even at the last Ottawa meet...

Truthfully I try not to drive mine in the rain not so much to keep it clean, but due to traction issues.
