Tornado
That was one hell of a storm that worked its way through southern Ontario! I saw the devastation that it left in and around the town of Durham. Sadly, the 11yr old that lost his life is a nephew of a teacher that I work with.
im sorry to hear that.
im in milton and we had a tornado come through here as well. nothing compared to durham and vaughn. but still, people have noe roofs on thier houses!! all the best to the families that are affected by this massive storm

It was quite the brutal storm. I haven't been over to Durham to see the damage in person, but I have seen some shots on the news. Was the weather bad in Chesley? Did it take your shed down?

All we got was major downpours, lightning (that didn't hit the house this time) and wind. The shed is still up. I've gotta get that car parted out before it does come down. I don't see it lasting the winter.
Apparently the storm cells that were responsible for the funnel clouds originated in Goderich and worked its way across towards Collingwood. That kept it south of us here in Chesley. Apparently it started doing damage as it came close to touching down north of Ayton. It finally formed and touched down at the south end of Durham where it cut through on a diagonal and destroyed several large buildings and then dissolved only to come back down again just outside the east end of the town at the conservation park. It than headed towards Markdale and then changed direction and headed to the GTA. Normally I head out in my truck to watch the lightning, but the tornado watch was on. I'm glad that I didn't because I would have headed over to Durham as that's the usual path for lighting storms here.

Yup...but it has a few new 'sky lights' now. Last year when my house was hit with high winds and lightning, I was taking the insurance agent around the house showing the damage to the roof and electrical system, I mentioned the shed and he said, "don't even think about it."
