Talking Teaser.....Teaser... 2007 Updates Well On the Way

Thanks to Al Balinsky at the wonderful Scarboro Mazda, I have purchased his ex-Anthony Woodford Racing E/production nose for the front of my car.

It took a fair amount of work to get it to fit (cutting away some lower front fender braces, massaging the lower fronts of the fenders and building up a whole series of nose bracing and Dzus fasteners to make it easily removable) and it still needs some cosmetic clean up to match the body lines better and get it painted, but it looks freakin' wild. Best thing is that it saved almost 10 lbs off the nose of the car versus the setup I previously used. The absolute best thing is that I can pull the nose off the car in about 5 minutes and prevent the standard annual splitter smash and replace efforts. It is also about 1" lower than my previous splitter. Again thanks Al. Picture of nose on a car attached. Mine looks different as my fenders are stock. Just need to build the belly pan out of laminated foam board/ glass and get that installed.

As well we finally have my seat remounted. It is 2" closer to the center of the car. We had to weld up a series of new mounts and change the reclining angle of the seat. I now will be sitting with my head almost all the way back inside the sail panel and my shoulders are level with the top edge of the door skin. This means I am almost 4 inches lower in the car!!! Anybody who saw me in the car last year will know how much of a change this is. We moved the steering column 1 inch to the right and moved it back 1 inch as well so that my arms can reach the wheel properly. Now I sit in the car like a formula car. Really cool!

Just need to find someone to do the aluminum welding and my ITB manifold is finally ready to go. Now just need to build the ducting to the front of the car and get the Megasquirt and new wiring installed. Please stay well Dave, LOL.

The new exhaust looks much better with the Howe racing merge extended venturi collector. Don't know if the overall flow will improve, but I have to believe that the engine scavenging has to improve.

Regarding the suspension, I have changed the rear pick up points to improve rear roll center to front roll center relationship and we have figured out the front bump steer issue, just need to find a Mustang II tie rod sized tapered reamer to bolt it all together. Also changed the rack mounts as well to improve camber gain curves.

All of the new dash panels have been fabbed and we will be welding on the new mounts onto the cage shortly. I am trying to slow down the welding as the car has been on fire twice in the last 2 weeks, LOL, but it needs to be done.

There is a ton of other detail things that are going on as well, like improved fire protection, reduced wiring, new headlight mounts, remote battery hookup for a starting battery, new radio setup, Dave and I arguing over the need for a diffuser versus a rear belly pan, Accusump hook-up again, and deciding whether or not to vent the hood.

I will post picks as we finish sections on the car. Looking to be ready for the early May CTCC race, the Victoria Day 3 hour Enduro and especially the CTCC race at the Grand Prix of Toronto in June.

Roll on summer!!!!

And yes Neo, I have the warm weather Jones really bad.

Eric
