what u are asking is the same concept as putting in an aftermarket stereo system there should be a diagram on the top of bothyour decks indicating the function and colour of each wire .. all there is to it is matching up the colours ... not that dificult .. and i dont know for sure BUT as far as the eq goes it should be just after the stereo due to the fact that the deck is in essence a preamp because there are no speakers attached to it so yeah .. it realy shouldnt be all that difficult .. just compare the two and go from there

I just want to be sure that the factory harness in the car will have all the plugs to hook up the deck with EQ ..the interior is good, and my center piece doen't have a crack..I don' t want to take the risk of harming it ,to find out the factory harness won't accept the new deck..thanks.

if u do it all properly then no harm will come with to your parts .. and as far as it being plug and play the answer is no .. there will definatly have to be some splicing involved .. atleast i would think so .. but the harness should support what u are tryiing to do

The plug should be there, Because the GXL had the EQ, and they didn't have different harnesses, well the vert did I think, can't remeber, but it should be plug ant play.

The way I'm thinkin is that the wiring Should Be There..funny they are both GX's but the thing that bothered me was when I took the deck out there were spliced wires..i have no idea what the PO had in there (aftermarket..then installed the stock back in)..sort of a mystery..if no solid answer comes out of this ,I can always stick with original..I have a truck load of Cassettes..(age..showing)..maybe 10 CD's..LOL!!..and listenin to a smooth runnin rotary, IS music!..no Radio required..

Look in the Factory Service Manual...a full wiring diagram for the back of all the stock stereo systems are in there. Nismo and I used one in a dark Beer Store parking lot, and finally got ours to work.

you askin me to Search ?..Rick?..haha!..well ya I did..leafed through ****..but it still doesn't answer.. if the harness will have all the plugs ..to accept the different set-up..I'm in no hurry to switch though..I still have the 88 GX to part out..so it's a"foreseeable swap question"..eventually someone who has done it..will answer..(I hope...)

Section 15-Body elec system.

The only difference with the eq is that there's a cable that plugs into the cassette deck that comes from the eq that wasn't there before. Other than that, everything else should be the same.

well..this is an update to my question..YES it does fit!..and best thing is I did it, and did not crack the middle vent/stereo surround!..anyone takin there middle surround off ..POP the ashtray out ..Unscrew the two screws there..Carefully take the middle vent and logicon inner piece..it just snaps in..This exposes the TWO DREADED SCREWS!..the one's that are most likely responsible for people breaking their surround ,when they take them out..the screws are just under the top lip ..Now you disconnect the cigarette lighter (connector) and unscrew the small bulb connector ..and the surround will come off..The stereo to stereo with EQ swap is straight up..just look what you disconnect and use the extension(male to female) lead on the new(eq'ed) deck ..this allows you to have the room to work at the wires and pull it out again..make sure that the wires are tucked into areas were they don't prevent the deck from goin in..put the four screws in ..and you are done!..The Surround???..(Always wanted to say this)..Installation is the reverse of removing!!..misterstyx69
