So what's on the menu for your car this winter?

I asked last year, I'll ask again. What are you guys doing to your car this winter while she's hibernating?

I started about a month ago:

I dropped the rear end, I am swapping out from NA to turbo from the flywheel back. I picked up a whole rear end assembly painted and powder coated with alot of new bushings pressed in.

ClassicAuto gave me a huge hand doing a bunch of pressing getting the rest of the old bushings and bearings out and replacing them with new ones. 99% of bushings have been replaced on my car now (only thing I didn't get new was the diff mount bushing where the LSD mounts to the subframe).

Today I flushed and filled the turbo LSD I will be using and installed my rear camber adjuster.

I have replaced 1/3 hard fuel lines. I figured might as well do this with the rear end out since there's lots of room to work. I need some fuel hose before I do the last 2.

Once thats done, over the winter/spring the new flywheel/clutch/tranny will be replaced. I still need to source a lightweight flywheel...

The guys at Rotary Dynamics are rebuilding the manual steering rack I've had lying around and that will go in soon to clear up th engine bay a bit and get a different feel for driving.

I also have a replacement CSF rad to put in to.

That about sums up my car over the next few months, what about you guys?

sounding like it is a fun car to drive theory

i actually don't do anything to my car over the winter. being a student i don't have time/money to really spend on her.
the only thing i have to decide is whether i still want to sell her when spring comes. i will be graduating so it is all up in the air right now.

good luck with upgrades though. i actually have an SR motorsports 9lb flywheel just sitting in a box, just never got around to putting it in. i will let you know if i want to get rid of it.

I just graduated so I'm treating myself a little more with the car!

She as a very fun car to drive around. Alot of changes are taking place, we'll see how she feels in the spring. I'm getting everything ready for the day I decided to go with a power adder...I'm looking forward to when it's all done, it'll be a beefy NA for the time being.

I also started the inside, I FG-ed some mdf into my stereo console for some gauges and it turned out pretty good.

Finding a 13b for my first gen, or finding a TII for it.

Have to track one of those guys down. Next on the list would be POR 15 for the entire underbody and wheel wells, removal of the carpets and installation of new sound dampening material, also treated with POR 15. Im starting with a car thats in great shape, so I want to keep it that way for many years.

Sterling Nikki carb, fuel pump, regulator, RE-Speed rack and pinion steering kit, maybe a strut brace, and some dyno time before DGRR 08, maybe a lil interior work if I can get the motivation to go work in the cold.

You're actually going to be able to work on the white car over the winter Matt? By the way, I'm going to need to borrow your flywheel socket/breaker bar ect one of these weekends if thats alright. So I can actually get started on something productive.

Lets see... Install wideband, remove twins for BNR twin upgrade, Mazdaspeed ms-01s wheels (if I can get them from FDnewbie), and Racing Beat dual-tip once my backorder gets filled. Then in the spring some fresh paint on the 99 spec body with and a tune.

RX-8 is staying the same as the RX-7 is taking my focus.
Plan for the RX-7 is a tranny rebuild, maybe a lower-ratio rear end if I can find one, and in the process of gathering parts for an engine rebuild.
Working with RPM on the plan, but right now it looks like RX-8 rotors and e-shaft with Mazda Competition bearings, gears and seals inside bridge ported Turbo II irons with the Weber 51IDA I already have. Should be.. interesting.
