so my na is toast :(

i was out having fun with some friends tonight and i decided i was to go for a bit of a cruse, we ended up making it to niagara falls, right to the actual falls. after hanging around for a bit i decided to head back home, it was about 3:20am. as im driving i notice my temp gage is high but that in my car is normal. my temp gage usually goes all the way up for warm up then comes back down as the car gets warmer. but this time it dident it continued up until it was practically vertical, i could smell something coming from the engine bay as well i quickly noticed a loss of power. so i shut the car down and coasted for a but hoping it would help, while the car was still moving i tried to start it, but got absolutely nothing, so once i was down to around 20km/h i tried to start if my dropping the clutch. which seemed to work. then boom huge clouds of white smoke pours out from the hood. after opening the hood i dont see and actual damage but the rad cap released spraying coolant everywhere. when i tried turning it over smoke would pour from behind the rear rotor almost looking like it was coming from where the trans connects to the engine.

so i get a tow all the way back from grimsby. i figure its completely toast. so does anyone have a kicker motor laying around the would fit in my 88 gxl? my jeep went out last week(i knew that was coming) and now my gxl which is my only other car that i can drive.

thanks
all help is greatly appreciated

Theory's motor is an S4 WIth S5 intake on it so it would be perfect for this car

Hell I'd even buy the clutch and tranny and you can have the motor if he wanted to part it out

This is very unfortunate.
Hopefully someone's got a spare engine kicking around.

I'll keep an eye out for anyone who's letting go of an engine.

All the best.

Ummmmmm...... pulling your motor on the street in front of your house ????? You know that we are supposed to get about 20 cm's of snow starting tuesday. If you only have about $200 and you need a motor then I think you may have to wait a while. I don't understand pulling it all apart until you have a motor available to put in. How are you going to get it off the street when you need to so the plows can clear the street off? Don't you know anybody with a garage who would help you out when you get the new motor?

It may be easier and cheaper to fix up your Jeep than to get a good working 13b for a few hundred. It may be easier to get a winter beater than to find a new motor. Not trying to be a jerk or sound like your dad, but maybe you should think things out a bit and make your circumstances meet your budget and available resources. Call Al at Woodbine Toyota. Tell him whats going on and where you are from and that you are desperate. He may have a line on a beater for money you can scrape together and then fix your RX when you have the cash and resources to do it right. I wouldn't want to lay on my back on a street 5cm in slush deep and undo the transmission parts on a car that hasn't been apart in who knows how long.

the engine is blown bad, meaning it dosent start nor does it seem to have and compression at all. its ok on thursday i will have 900. im taking everything out so that when i get the new engine ill be at the stage where i can just go ahead and put it in. my driveway is the one infront of the car but if you see the jeep in the background thats the driveway im using. i just had the car on the road since i was towed home from grimsby the car rolls easy so me and my friend are going to push it into the driveway today, i dont mind working on my car outside in the cold. i would use my dads shop but hes painting his car in there so im guaranteed to get over spray on my car/ be in his way. other than that i dont have a garage that i can get it into.

I believe that S4 was just rebuilt. And Theory got the S5 intake working too. It was pulling strong before he decided to part out his car.
I've bought stuff from him. He is a good seller.
He is even throwing in a turbo transmission. You could probably sell the tranny separately to help pay for the motor.
