Should I Buy This???

I'm thinking of buying this. Should I?

It has 390 hp and 390 ft/lbs of torque. Its supercharged with a 5 speed auto with Tip Tronic shift. 18x8.5 Panasport style wheels, Connelly Leather Internals and every option that you could imagine.

I love it, but is it sensible?

Should I get rid of the Rex for this...... or am I getting old.

I drove a couple when I was shopping for my current car. The only real negative I read about was the cost of transmission repairs, which can be upward of $7-8 grand.

But don't sell the 7 as you'll regret it like I do. Unless of course you can get another speed machine.

Actually, I wouldn't get rid of the Rex. I would get rid of the Passat. Anyone want a Passat.

And yes you are always getting older but I wouldn't say you are OLD.

The little "R" after the name plate means you aren't getting old - but you are wise!

That said, there's a reason that the resale is so low: Cost of repairs.

They are sweet to drive and pull like a freight train, but the cost of ownership can be overwhelming. Does it come with the complete vehicle history and service records?

Wink

I have the records from new and even personally know the tech who worked on the car at MCL from new. The car has really low K's and was owned by an older gent from the British Properties. The tech has told me the car is mint and still has 2 years left on the extended warranty.

Seeing as I put about 5,000 kms on my second car each year, this should last for quite a while. I understand about the transmission, as well as the rack leaks but I am not too concerned about the cost of repairs. They are what they are.

As my Dad once said, "you have to pay to play" or as that soothsayer Robert Blake once said (as the multi-faceted character Beretta) "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, dont do it." LOL.

I just wonder if it will be faster up the Andretti Straight than my RX7. Oh the blasphamy of that last statement.

Well, if that's the case then what's the worst case sceneario? You keep it for two years and during that time it spends a lot of time at the dealer for warrantee repairs. At the end of the warrantee you have everthing checked and replaced then sell it. No real risk.

They are a sweet ride, and the highway pull will make you giggle.

Always liked Jags. The only thing I never liked about them (apart from the mechanical horror stories) is the lack of a manual tranny. Apart from that, they're really nice rides.
If you have the cash, and don't mind going to the dealer for the odd repair, then I say do it!

Awsome driving car, nothing drives like a Jag.

Just be aware that parts availablility is a big issue with these cars. It's so bad that Jaguar Canada has a few cars that are used as parts cars. When all else fails they go to the back and remove the part that is needed, that's if that part has not been nabbed already.

I did not find much interior room and the ignition key drove me nuts (required almost a full turn around, I hope they have since corrected that). But it sure did smell nice and looks sexy as hell!
