Sexy...

Recieved both my January and Feb 2006 issues of Inside track. It's a very good magazine for those who don't know what it is. It covers amatuer racing in Canada mainly CASC regional races (BC and Ontario) and Cascar. They have blerbs about Solo2 and Solo1.

ANyhow saw this article. (please see attachemnt). Very very nice car indeed. Seen it a couple of times now. I always wanted to ask one question though, "How much do you charge for a ride?"

See following post for JPEG images.

edit...
damn... it looks like the limit for attachments is 100k. The PDF file is 400k. I'll reduce the JPEG image size so that it's 100k. Sorry if it's fuzzy. If anyone can host I can email the higher quality files over. Shoot me a PM.

Al, there is a mention in the article of you needing a special water pump housing. I think it was when you were looking for an S4 housing and you only had an S5 one. You must have mentioned it and Steve put it in the article. You just can't trust the 5th estate.

By the way nice shots of the very clean car and great article. The car/driver should be very quick this year with the new motor. The extra torque should be very enjoyable.

Great job.

"...he [Steve Smith] found a water pump from another model to replace the obsolete standard pump."

anyways, guess it was a little misleading.

haha, I wondered about the water pump too!

I really like the front splitter on that car, and I'd love to get a closer look.

Nice race car!

Okay, now the real story on the water pump, i remember what it was about. When i ordered a replacement water pump for a 86-88 non turbo, Mazda Canada supercedes (updates) to another part number. When we got the pump, everything was fine except the where the waterpump pulley mounts. The hole in the centre of the pulley is a couple of hundred thousands of an inch different on the updated pump, and wouldnt let my pulley slide onto it. Steve went and found a way to order the original part number (which is a real project when you dont want the superceded part) and got me the last 2 that Mazda Canada had, and they wont be getting any more. So thats the whole story! And by the way, any time you want to see the car, it is always at the dealership!

If your using the factory water pump pulley you wont have a problem. But if your using a Mazdaspeed competition pulley, yes you will!
