separating a caliper from its bracket?

separating a caliper from its bracket?

hey guys i was looking at the fsm and it shows that the rear caliper can be separated from the bracket

is there any tricks to it i can't get them to come apart and its bugging the hell out of me

The bottom most bolt needs to be removed and then the caliper should swing up and slide off the guide pin. However, often the caliper is rusted to the guide pin so it may take some major prying to swing it up. If it is badly rusted then the pin will need to be cut. New pins generally come with rebuild/new calipers or can be ordered from Mazda.

i got it to swing up fairly freely now i just need to get ot off the bracket the single bolt that holds the caliper to the bracket snapped If i cant get it apart i may just retap the hole
