I think I have a 2nd gen around here somewhere....

Both Snrub and I try to get to the track often. However, my car is still in a state of disassembly and will not be track ready until next spring. I still try and get to Sparta in the Insight, so if you want to meet up one Friday, that could be arranged.

TYSON has an FD, so he doesn't count.

justtrish has a 2nd gen, and she expressed interest in the track at out last meet.

rick_tj is around here somewhere as well.

Yes I did express interest didn't I!?

However, I still have this parking ticket that I forgot to pay :-(

When is that track day?

the conditions at sparta are getting pretty bad from what I hear.

Some friends of mine went on saturday, one of them has a talon, he says he was doing 4wd burnouts going down the track in 3rd gear...

I'm sorry but if AWD cars can't hook, that is a big problem...

When you say track day, do you mean drag strip or road course? I'd be doing a fair bit of the later if not for my impoverished state.

Rick signing in with 2nd gen. We discussed the state of Sparta at the meet a few weeks ago, and apparently everyone thinks its crap. Grand Bend is the place to go for drag racing.

I really think the Grand Bend vs. Sparta thing was overplayed. Other than Mr. Cake, none of us would be good enough for the track to make a difference. Are we proposing a drag strip meet?

I think that if my AWD friend can't hook, then I'm plenty good enough that it will make a difference in my 2wd car

I'll be in grand bend in september, but I'm down for st. thomas/sparta anyways....

As far as the roundy-round type of track goes, snrub, when and where are you going? I'd like to hit up an event or two in sept/oct... as soon as I have the talon roadworthy (incase I break the car) OR the gxl saftied (and just take it to the track instead of my 10AE)

No way I can get to Sparta raceway, that'd be a huge gas sucker, nevermind the racing itself.

Sparta is a 20 minute drive from London. Seriously, how many of us are set up for drag racing? How many have slicks? Line locks? Practice trees? Hundreds of runs under their belts? No one? Then Sparta will do fine. If anything, spinning off the line will prevent you from breaking stuff, and no one who has posted here has anywhere near enough power to have traction issues, even on the stock tires.

But I have no problems with Grand Bend either.

What about an autocross meet? The fall series should be starting soon, and you're going to have to work really hard to break something at autox.

Much faster cars than your 240rwhp car rutinely go to Sparta. They obviously aren't whining about it too much. The track record is a 5.215. When you get into the 4s I'll start listening to your complains about a track that you've never driven on.

I haven't ever done an oval. As I said, I WOULD be doing road courses....

Rick, if you were driving to London, it might be an extra $10 in gas to go to Sparta, bringing the grand total to $25. In fairness if we've got a bunch of people who are closer to Grand Bend then I suppose it would make sense to go there.

The only autocross in the area is Wosca. As Terrh eluded to, they're hold their events in Woodstock on Sundays.
