s4 and s5 engine blocks

just a question for you guys
i have a 89 n/a with no compression and i have a chance to buy a 86 block with good compression so the question is will my s5 intake and exaust manifolds, sensors ect fit on the s4 engine

should not be too hard. you'll need-a block off the egr, but I can't think of too much else.

yes. just a few notes.

- if you want to use the S5 lower intake manifold, you will need to block off the port air passages.
- EGR needs to be blocked off.
- you must remove the engine hoist hook and grind down a small section on the top of the block otherwise the middle section of the intake manifold will not fit.

i'm pretty tired right now so i didn't really go into detail...PM me later if you have any questions.

you sure about that? - I did the VDI swap and there was no problem with clearence, although I did have to route a hose a different way.

yup, i had to grind a part down. i thought i didn't have to either but it just barely touched so i had to grind. remember, i am talking about series 5 intake manifold on series 4 block.

anyways, i will try to get a picture of what i mean.

edit: ok i have attached a pic. you can see to the very left of the picture where metal has been grinded down. also, you can see the block off plate that is in place of the EGR valve.

You will also need to swap the front cover to run the S5 OMP.
Vaccume spider is different too.

GOd i need one of those too!
does anyone know of a writeup for an s5->s4 intake, where they keep the emissions stuff, like the rats nest?

i just started premixing instead.

and yes, you will have to do some vacuum routing...which is not very fun.
