Very stale, saw this a long time ago on an autocross forum - story was the guy had grabbed some new lug nuts for his track wheels, they were close but not quite on the thread and pitch or some such, so they seemed to torque on, but as soon as acceleration and lateral loads were applied on his first run, they popped off. The car was only cosmetically damaged, and the guy put his other lugs back on and completed the event, iirc. I think it was an SCCA Solo Nat Tour event.
