alright guys/gals,

I thought this may be fun, everyone post a Rotary Myth That you have herd that is good for your motor an will prolong the life of your motor

also if you can show that it is indeed a fact and not a myth please do so as this would help alot of people out.

Thanks.

p.s. could we get a mod to sticky this aswell?

I'll Start..

Adding 250ML of Castrol 2 Stroke motor oil into your gas every 2 months

Some have said it will prolong the life of your rotary through better lubrication of your rotary engine...

^ What you're actually doing is pulling the EFI fuse, which cuts power to the ECU, which doesn't fire the fuel injectors when you crank the engine. You're supposed to pull the spark plugs out as well, to clear out any fuel pooled up inside the housings. If you don't do that, chances are you'll hear a huge bang out the exhaust once you get the car fired up.

Lots of people do this. My friend, who has a VERY respectable RX-7 and runs a rotary specialty shop tells me to run a half bottle of two-stroke oil with every fill up. Running premix keeps all the seals loose and happy in their grooves, which helps compression.

Yeah, I've been hearing that alot lately too. I just met a guy who raced a first gen for a while and he put 2 stroke oil in his tank he told me about it helps with the seals. he's the 3rd person that told me that in 2 weeks... i think there's some truth in that

i never tried it, but im assuming that u have to let the engine sit with brake fluid in it for a while and it will supposingly loosing up the carbon.

A rotary engine makes the car difficult to turn.

It's actually radial engines and biplanes...., not cars.

Okay race fans #1: We put 2 stroke oil in our fuel tanks because we have removed the oil injection system, and all rotaries need oil to lubricate the apex seals. #2: If you have a continual problem with flooding chances are your engine is a) not cranking fast enough Mazda recommends 250 rpm, b) your compression is low on one or both rotors! That may not always be the case, but its a good place to start!

Is it a good idea for a GSL SE? I just got mine in August. It has a slow oil leak. I haven't been able to isolate it. Had my mechanic look at it and he's convinced it's the oil tank as I have one screw busted off. I'm not so sure.

Somehow...still don't know how...my engine got flooded (haven't had a problem since...knock on wood. I didn't know about pulling the fuse. I did pull the plugs, inspect, clean, and replaced two. Afterwards it started, with some bitching, by putting the gas pedal to the floor while I cranked.

FACT:In most cases of Engine failure..it is not due to apex Seals..It is Caused by the NUT..BEHIND the Steering Wheel.
MYTH: RPM(JOE) does not actually Rebuild Rotary Engines. He Overnight Ships them to Chuck Norris who by mere" Power of Mind", Forces them to Conform to their Natural Running state!.Chuck then, Sends them back as "repaired".
