For those of you with 2nd gen cars, there are 2 pieces for sale that never made it into the car. There is a rear Carbon Fiber dash that is modeled from the OEM one, it weighs 4 lbs. $450.00
Liberty still hasnt finished the gear box for the car, it is based on a 1986-1988 Turbo case with the following ratio's: 1st 1.97 2nd 1.54 3rd 1.24 4th 1.1 and
5th about .89. This box has been face plated (dog ringed) and doesnt use clutch hubs or syncro's it should be virtually clutchless. Liberty Gear has the transmission in final assembly and it could be bought for between $3500-$4000 USD. That is incredibly cheap for a racing dog-box, the next closest is a Saenz that would run you $8,000USD before any parts needed to adapt it. This box will bolt into a Turbo 2nd gen with no mods what so ever! Someone should grab this amazing piece. This trans would have reduced our laps times 2-3 seconds at Mosport. T o put it in a N/A car all you need to do is change the clutch/flywheel to a turbo one and get the turbo trans engine mount and front u joint.

This trans is not for street use, 1st gear in it with a 4.88 diff is good for about 70mph at 10,000rpm. The engine drops about 1800-2000rpm per shift between 1st-4th which is what you need on a small displacement engine. If you drive a BMW M3 with the 7speed paddles they drop about 1700 rpm per gear and thats why they are so fast with not a dramatic amount of HP. Gearing is the most overlooked part of import power because of the ridiculous costs of tranny's or ring and pinions. When you buy a mustang or camaro the 1st change is a rear gear and they usually pick up 1/2 -1 second down the 1/4 mile. To put that into perspective, at 100mph each 1/10th of a second is 14ft.............

The input shaft is the stock 2nd 86-88 Turbo, thats what is was replacing. The P.Port doesnt make enough torque to ever worry about breaking it. I am told the stock TII trannies can take up to 400 FTlbs of torque.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm casually looking for a trans for drag racing, but didn't realize quite how tall that 1st gear is (taller than stock 2nd!) I think I'll be giving that Curtis a call tomorrow. Is that a business number or cell phone?
