Unhappy RIP my seven

well i finally happened, pushed it too hard and wound up all broken.
we had a lapping day for solo1 on august 23, just being a lapping day i was playing with some different lines. i went over the rumble strips in the shicane (sp) and it loosened the bleeder screw on my front right caliper. onto the back straight where i maxed out 4th gear (200km/h), going into turn 9, i jabbed the brakes and nothing happened. cresting over a slight hill i had no hope, i pulled the e-brake and turned in slightly to go sideways through the grass. hit the tire wall a best guess of 130-150km/h and knocked myself dizzy seeing a lot of smoke i bailed out of the car. the heat from the wrapped exhaust lit the grass on fire. we put it out easily and everyone was trying to get me to sit down. i felt i needed to walk so i walked, though pretty dizzy from either the hit or the shock of crashing i pulled the car back to the pits. engine works. suspension is good, frame is still pretty straight. but their is so much cosmetic damage on the left rear panel that the car is a write off.
pretty sore yesterday and today but other wise fine, but pretty upset that i now have 3 motors, 2 trans, 3 turbo's and no car. i'm looking for a shell pretty quick, doesn't matter model as i'll be switching both sub frames from my car to the other.
it still almost seems surreal, 4 years of work gone in 2 seconds.
I haven't told my GF yet because i don't want to ruin her vacation so it's still a secret untill friday, I'll post pics then.

Wow. That's crazy. At least you're alright. I take it this was at Race City? Hopefully you find a decent shell. How much are you looking to spend?

I'd like to spend as little as possible on the shell as the motors i bought prior have left me broke.
I was told a of a free car but it' would cost a couple hundred to pick it up and bring it home, so i'm still waiting on that one. still looking though.
I figure i was due for a change of colour so instead of painting the car i'll buy a new one and put my performance in it.

this is the car now
closer inspection shows that the frame is bent, the pass door it hard to close and the is a compression dent on the passenger side b-piller. total write off.

heres the off road trail i made, track is about 35ish feet away from where i went off. i exited the track at 200km/h and spun 270 degrees putting the driver side against the wall.

Cold comfort, but I'm actually impressed at how well it fared.

Glad to hear you are OK though, that must have been a wild few seconds. It'll be a tough road, but good luck getting another car on the track!

I'm surprised at how little damage there is for a 130km/h crash. I was expecting Total Destruction.

I suppose you have to decide what's easiest to do - swap to another shell, or repair this one. My bet is doing a shell swap since you mentioned that the entire shell may be tweaked slightly - not surprising considering how hard you hit.

Why did the brakes fail?

i was surprised at the lack of damage as well, their was a stack of tires in front of the wall which helped a TON but there is still just enough damage that the car is a write off.

I bled the brakes at the last event which might have been why the bleeder screw might have been loose, but that was a month ago and i've done a fair bit of hard driving since then. the final nail in the coffin was be cutting the corners in the chicane, and driving over the rumble strips there.

Andrew is assembling the replacement engine for my car.

Had a total engine faliure. Sad part was, I felt cheated because I wasnt even moving when it went.

I still don't understand how the bleeder screw could ever come out though, there's atleast a good 10 threads or so in there and vibration shouldn't be able to take that out.

it didn't come right out, just loose enough to let all the fluid out. but it still baffles me a little too. I race hard 2 days, a couple quarter mile nights, and a few hours daily driving, since the last time i touched that bleeder screw, Y it decided to loosen while i was heading right toward a wall? i'll never know.
