REC Apex

Any of you CAnadian guys ever use or hear of REC apex seals? Its a 2 piece seal and the company that makes them says they are one of the best. www.rotoaryengine.com Any experience antone is willing to share would be great because im about to rebuild my engine soon. Any comparison to ALS or Ra super would be great too. Thanks.

I have them in my rebuild, they are guaranteed for life if they are installed with new rotor housings. I have nothing but good things to say about Adam.

They have been awesome for me. Had a buddy with a supercharged 12a that had them too. He had his car so far out of tune and was using reg gas, I heard it detonate from 1/2 a block away like a coffee can full of marbles and the seals never failed.

Hahaha! Thats funny!

How about their side seals? Any word on them. Im narrowing my choice down to ALS and these. Ive talked to Adam and he knows a lot but I dont know much about these seals. Ive onl read what they have on the website. Ofcours no one will say they have garbage products. they are going to talk it up.

Ok. What can you tell me? How much power are you ruuning? Have you taken the engine apart to inspect after youve been driving? how many miles do you have on them so far? How long is the break in period? Tell me all you know please. I havent seen anything about a guarantee for life on the site.

Talk to Adam about the guarantee. I'm only putting down 300hp with 11psi and a base tune for now, only have less than 3000km since my rebuild. Break in was 1500 km's less than 5000 rpm. So far so good. Adam does know his stuff. His seals are in some of the fastest rotaries in the world.

*edit out most of my post since HalifaxFD posted while I was typing.
But, I will jump in since I helped put the engine in the car, but he can give a lot more detail. He used the seals based on the recommendation of a friend of ours, who assembled this engine, who's been using them in his FC Turbo for 4+ years now (That one is a stock build, approx 200whp on a Mustang) and has been stone reliable and beat within an inch of it's life constantly. He used them because his cousin used them in a 700 hp drag car.

I'm actually considering going through him for my build. I've been talking to him about it for a little while. Do you guys have exp with his builds? Apparently uses a lot of new parts.

Adam has pretty strict tolerances with his builds, if it's no good he won't use it. He won't steer you wrong.

You will hear various stories, bottom line is he will build to your budget. I you are broke and just need it to run and then don't go and throw 25 psi at it thinking "it's built". If you tell him what you want it do do, and conform to a necessary budget you will have a very good motor!

I will be throwing nitrous at mine this year..

One important mention, he has "ALWAYS" met whatever deadline he has committed to on any build he has done for me. If it's not done by 5pm, he will stay until midnight to meet his commitment (he did for me!)......Keep in mind racing season and spring are approaching and at any given point he may have a list of 10-20 builds to complete.

Ya going back and forth through emails and a fee phone calls and we've already got a goo list of goodies in mind for the build. Way better parts for the same price that I was gonna spend somewhere else. I feel good about it so far.
