Reasonable labour?
Reasonable labour?
Ok, I am still kind a bit off about the labour here in Canada since it used to be dead cheap in my home country.
I went to a shop my friend recommended, which is in Mississauga, and asked them how much it would cost to replace the catalytic converter. I also told them I would bring the main parts (downpipe and cat) but not other little things like gaskets, bolts, nuts, etc, etc.. The guy, the owner of the shop, pushed buttons on his old calculator several times, and came up with a number 200 somehow. (btw, this includes taxes 13%). The problem to me is that I do not even know if it is reasonable or not. In my mind, I could do this by myself if I am living in a house with a garage during a weekend or two, but then the general population out there will never do this kind of jobs by themselves.
What are your opinions? Good or Bad? Better place to go?

You need to ask their hourly rate as well. Usually it's posted but sometimes it's not. I think the average is about the $75/hour range. I may be mistaken since I haven't let anyone but my friends touch my cars in the last two years.
