Pumped About New GT Challenge Rules

The new rules have just come out for the CASC GT Challenge Series. These are monster exciting for me as under the new rules my RX7 can be a front runner in the ST1 class. Here are the rules,

For the 2013 season the series (GT/C only) will be using a power to weight formula, so no more breakouts. The format for next year will change slightly with seven events, six one hour races and the traditional Indian Summer three hour in September. There may be a possibility of an extra event but we won’t know until the regular 2013 schedule is sorted (the announcement of the Camping World Truck race at CTMP this week should speed things up). To differentiate ourselves from GT Sprints the class names change slightly, GT, GS, ST1, ST2, ST3., each Class has a factor which gives total weight (Car and Driver) at races end(HP x Factor=lb).
Factors
GT-6
GS-9
ST1-12.5
ST2-15
ST3-17

This is freaking awesome for me. I will run the #23 RX7 in ST1. If I can make 210 rwhp I have to weigh in at 2,625 lbs with driver, end of race fuel and all safety equipment. Basically as you come off the track. This means that I can get to 210 rwhp with a bit of tuning or I can drop 50 lbs off my car and have the same power to weight as everyone else in the class. NO FREAKIN' Breakouts, so I can drive as hard as I want and do anything to the car suspension wise. Fastest car and driver in class wins, track records, glory, F1 contracts and smokin' hot chicks await, LOL. I think that a mid to low 1:36 should get it done and I am at about a mid to low 1:37 right now.

I really have to step up the program as under 2012 rules I was about 3 seconds and 80 hp off of a win, now I am really really close. Joe now I am going to really squeeze the pig and do some more stuff to it. I have to get lighter, me included, real aero and the best suspension stuff I can afford. Marco, we need to discuss what we can realistically get out of the car tuning wise.

Lots to think about as the whole game just changed. We may get the RX7 in the winner's circle again.

Awesome. Hopefully have more time this coming summer to watch and see the action. Planning another year of sigma considering this year I was out the whole season due to suspension rebuild......

It would be interesting so how that works out for you guys. And what kind of dyno they will be using. Going by that our Rx8 would run in st1 as well and still be able to take off weight.

Your half-bridge (if I'm remembering right) should easily get to your power goal as long as theirs no other issues. You should have let me taken the car to that Shannonville day, the track was so open, it wasn't even funny. I drove the Sentra cause I was curious what a FF race car would feel like hehe. Not being able to steer with the throttle is weird lol.

Did anyone else see the recent changes they are doing to Mosport? They tore out all the concrete patches and replaced it with proper tarmac. I can finally power out of 5b! I'm pretty damn excited to drive the new Mosport. With the new track changes and all the changes I have done to the car in the past 2 years + the new power from the 20b, I'm fairly confident I'll be able to do mid 20's at Mosport . I got my car down to 2,500 lbs without driver filled with half a tank of fuel and a gallon of water. The 20b should put me around 2,600 lbs. I've also personally lost 60 lbs off myself . Its too bad I never had the 13b running 100% since all the changes (stupid Precision turbo...).

^ The new changes to Mosport look great. I'm so excited to get back there in the spring.
They demolished the media centre (castrol tower) and the new media centre/vip palace looks like it's being built driver's left along the front straight. We can also see from the pics that the 2012 pit entry is no longer there.
My guess is the pits will be lengthened now, and the garages may(unlikely, though) turn into useable garage space for teams! This would open up the doors for so many big series.
Too bad all they've secured is some stupid Nascar Trucks.

They're doing it to fit double pit lane for the nascar trucks.

Whatever it takes to bring money to the track to improve it :P. If it goes well, I hear a full repave will come.
