Just reminded me about what happened to a guy In Perth, seems he Filled his truck up at a Gas Bar(not sure which one though)..he ended up 'boggin out '..The Diagnosis:turns out to be water in the gas..so he Took the Mechanic Bill, Plus what it cost him to fill his truck, back up to the Owner..To get reimbursed..(to the tune of 400 bucks..)..they had to drop the tank ..and what not...(lighter side).Aaron savin 2 cents..LOL!..(isn't your whole car based on that "magic card"? ..haha..J/K!)
Gasoline specs are very tightly regulated by the government. The only significant difference between one brand of fuel versus another is the additive packages (detergents etc). Watch activity around a buil fuel terminal and you will see fuel trucks of every description pass through.
Water in the gas is an accident. It could be caused by a leak in an underground storage tank. Unfortunatley there have been quite a few of those. Old service stations are more at risk for that kind of thing.

I run PetroCanada gas often, since it's the closest gas station to my house. No problems at all.
However in my experience PC is always a few cents *higher* than everyone else, so I would never get their CC
They're still going to gouge you somehow.

"Sonoc's" is where its at. 94 Octane and I get free ultra washes by knowing people on the inside. Some relationships do pay off lol.
btw, for those who know the Mac's chain. They have a gas station in my town and they carry 94 octane but they sell it for 3.5 litres cheaper and infact in comparison to sonoco it is 5 cents cheaper. I just dont know if I can trust where Mac's gets their gas from.

well, so basically it's kind of pointless to get this card.
but at least there is some interesting fuel info and experiences in this thread...next thing i will look into is Canadian Tire's gas card...up 10 cents a litre discount. but like i said i never liked their gas for some reason.

The Petro Canada stations on the quebec side have 94 octane, but on the ontario side I always see just 91.
Never heard of Chevron... must be a BC thing.

my parents have the canadian tire card actually.
do you know if the $1000 a month you have to spend counts for a single account? if so i could get a second card on my parent's account and i am sure we could get $1000/month. 10 cents a litre is good considering they usually have the cheapest gas to begin with...even if i it seems i get less mileage with their gas.

Canadian Tire seems to be the worse, but even then it's not much. i haven't really calculated an actual MPG comparison.
well i'll see how much parent's use on that card every month, and see if saving 10 cents a litre is enough to get a second card on an account they have, heh...
Coldfire: I agree about not trusting CT gas too much. I've never been a fan just because I think that the smaller gas stations do the whole "hose in the gas bin" trick and I've always kind of thought that CT was a "smaller" gas station. I guess not though!
But also about the whole higher octane thing. I used to put 94 octane in mine because a) I definately noticed a difference (not huge) and b) always thought it was better. After reading a whole lot on pre-mixing gas for the RX, I believe in the 1st Gen FAQ, because higher octane fuel burns hotter it's not so good for the Rex's. Makes sense considering there's no coolant in the middle of the motor to cool it. Also when you put 2-cycle oil or MMO in with the gas it actually reduces the octane level by one to two points. I stopped using 94 octane in my Rex because of this reason and it's cheaper anyway.

well it's not $1000 on just gas. people do spend $1000 a month on a credit card account!
this whole thread is retarded.
what will it take to get it deleted...hmmmm.....

You're kidding yourself if you think this thread has any more relevance than my Leafs thread, lmao.
'Will this additive hurt my car' is about as lame as Nismo Prevert's unit without Viagra.

For those of us with regular paycheques, who put everyting on a credit card then pay off the balance each month, it is a good deal. Plus:
1. The discount scales w/ what you pay, so $500 gets you 5c. off, etc.
2. The $$ you spend at CT counts double.
For me, who buys 500l of gas/month, it puts $50 in my pocket per month.

Just an aside: Higher octane burns cooler than lower octane, that's why it's more resistant to knock.
Also saying that 500mL of premix mixed with 60L (60 000mL) of gasoline causes even a 1-point reduction in Octane, let alone two, is completely asinine!
