Original parts availability ??

I bet you guys would know this. What's it like to order parts direct from Mazda these days? Can a lot of stock parts (like all parts) still be ordered and are available if your willing to wait until Mazda can order them in?
Stuff like interior, body and mechanical.
The last thing I ordered was maybe 5 years ago and it was a the passenger side interior air vent assembly. The thing the passenger can use to direct the flow and amount of air flow on their side. Mine was broken and needed replaced. It came n about a week and I was impressed.

How about lately,,whats it like now a days???

The only thing I've ordered so far has been Montego Blue touch-up paint, which the parts department said was discontinued. Dave at Mazdees says it's been getting harder to find the little bits as time goes by.

Don't forget to check if you can get the RX-7 Club discount... I think the dealers are mentioned in one of the sticky posts.

It really depends on the part. Yes, it's getting a bit tougher to find OEM parts. The car is a bit on the old side...
Eventually people will have to resort to making replica parts.
But for now, I think you can find a lot of the major parts still available from the dealer. Might take a week or so for arrival, but at least you know you can get it.

Pretty much this.

When I had my car repainted over the winter I replaced a ton of small items, specific bolts, nuts, plastic trim bits... you name it... There was nothing the dealer couldn't get for me within 24hrs.

Vouch that one. I remember you needed those rebar bolts and you got em next day
I ordered a right window for an FD once last year and Charles helped me locate it at a Mazda warehouse in Chicago.
I think it was the last one in North America but you can wait a few weeks and get another one from Japan no problem

We don't stock anything for rx7's anymore (I work at a dealer) but a lot of stuff can be over night shipped. And the stuff that can't we can still get from Japan usually in a reasonable time frame. As far as out parts list shows i'd say 90% of the listed parts are still available from mazda

I just finished my 88 10AE and every part I ordered was availiable. But being an 88 and 25 years old, legacy support is gone. Once S4 parts are gone, they are gone.

Your best bet is to look up parts with a part number you sourced. A lot of times parts guys can't find anything because they can't actually find it. I show up with a list of parts numbers from the manuals.

FB's are tough. Every time I've gone to a dealer, they say their parts list starts in 86.

Yea it's seems like FB and FC parts are getting harder to get, more gets discontinued and less availability. But FD parts you can still get basically anything u would need. And I would agree that if you had part numbers you would be better off cuz most parts guys don't know the old stuff. We are lucky at my work since parts manager has been here like 26yrs and still knows all the old rx stuff pretty well
