Ontario RHD Registration

Hey guys,

Anyone recently get their ownership for their RHD FD in Ontario? I am curious if we gotta pay the PST on the amount we paid for the car, or the "book" price of the North American FD's.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

But how did they decide how much to charge you? The PST Percentage of the total you paid or what the book value was for that car?

depends on which is higher i think
i recently bought an fd (in canada but still) and what i paid was less then its whole value, so they made me pay tax on the whole value.

Vehicle Licensing and Reg info here.

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dan...cle/index.html

Was here double checking the status of an 88 for Emissions Test requiremnets.
At one time there were talking about gettting rid of it.
Now because green is good, 88 and newer have to
continue having an e-test every two years for the life of the vehicle.

if you want all the info you could ever need about the importation laws and requirements as well as good places to take the car to get an OOPI done, and places where you can actually get insurance for it since some places wont touch RHD vehicles without a big long stick....

check out www.15years.ca lots of info about importing vehicles as well as some of hte changes that may be occuring in the next year or so
