One less rotary on the road

Well most of you might not know me and still a new member for the rotary scene, I recently bought a 1993 RX-7 with a engine around mid August, barely even got to experience most things in this car.

So last night, an unfortunate event happened... While driving down Highway 7 and Rodick. My car wanted to pass the intersection. Naturally everybody would wait until the road is clear until they made a left turn, agreed?

No, not this driver. As I drove into the intersection, the driver took the left turn, almost as if I was invisible. I tried to swerve away from the car, as quickly as possible turning away. Eventually the car was hit on the side, turned 360 and ran up into the curb. The car was a total loss. The rear axle ripped off, and the door was mashed into the side, fenders destroyed and basically the car was rendered total loss.

It was the worst luck I ever had. As I already decided to put my car into storage mode and promised myself never to drive in the rain. Eventually I was forced to use the car IN THE RAIN, heck last drive of the year. Everything went well until we reached the intersection and hit by none other by a VOLVO. Like who couldn't have seen a sunshine yellow RX-7 with a exhaust as loud as a horn with HID's and fog lights on and a spoiler that almost could make you believe you could fly. There wouldn't be any other car as noticeable as mine.

Basically now there's one less rotary on the road, and insurance claims are going to be as low baller offers as ever as I'm in disbelief all shattered. Man... Driving for 4 years now never been in any accident whatsoever and my first crash, and it just had to just be my baby...

Here is a few pics... Pictures describe better than words

The wheel just ripped off...

Fender damage...

That sucks! What is with people do they have something against nice RX-7's? That's the second one this fall that's been totalled by idiotic drivers. As long as you're alright that's what is most important at this stage though. Too bad about the car it looked like a really nice one too. Those Volvo's are built like tanks by the way.

What is the policy on punching out the other driver? Would that have effected your insurance settlement? Frig I'm sorry for your loss.

Yeah it kinda looks white, but it's actually yellow lol sucky camera phone. Basically I'm going to part it out or use the parts for my next fd. Engine still in perfect condition and still running at the time of the crash, (only 31,000km on the engine) put together by Dave in Mazdee's.

Yeah the most unlucky part was I was hit by a volvo...

Basically she was 100% at fault so I'm not sure how it's going to work out at the settlement at this moment.

I got it from a person down from Kennedy and Steeles a owner of a garage who just didn't want to drive it anymore, he was the second owner and sorry to break it out, it isn't CYM it was originally MB, he kept it 100% in shape, everything worked.

Just glad nobody's hurt, but now, I just want to get back whatever I can from those people, as much money as possible and probably start on another fd if possible...

Sorry to hear your friend had to have the same tragic accident, man, people should learn how to drive before getting on the road, these cars are basically irreplaceable...

Must have been quite a hit to take out the back wheel. Good thing it wasn't worse. Your ok which is great. Sorry bout your ride. That really must suck. I've had to deal with insurance companies a few times over the years. Get all your receipts, repair bills and anything else that would prove increased value ready. See what other similiar cars are selling for and print/cut out the adds for the ones that will support your highest $ value (with a few of the somewhat lower to show your being fair so to speak). Its important to decide what you want/will accept BEFORE you start negotiating (obviously as much as you can just don't make ridiculous demands). Good luck.

yeah I'm glad nothing happened to me, I guess our meet will have to be on another day lol. Yeah the engine was still running perfectly, hopefully it's just the axle and shell... It was a crazy hit on the back, the other car hit the rear wheel with all it's force and that's how I turned 360 and hit the curb...

Another FD gone.
Good to hear you're alright. I would have killed that lady! How the hell do you not notice a car with HID's, fog lights and a loud exhaust?!

Let us know what the results are. I would hate to see the insurance company low ball you. Did you get the car appraised?

I'm still trying to get the car appraised, and still deciding if this car is able to be rebuilt, hopefully I'd be able to either rebuild the car, if not buy another fd rolling chassis or something and bring the parts over.

I hope I can get at least what I paid for the car...

If your going to part it out I need the cluster, is it a Canadian car?
Yeah it's a Canadian car, but I'm not parting it out at the moment.

Funny thing is, I'd just fix it and drive it, with all the dents.

My thoughts exactly...contact Jim or me as we may have everything you may need for that entire side in a personal collection of parts

Glad you're not hurt....everything else kind of pales in comparison. What kind of Volvo was it, it wasn't that old 80's style with the cow catcher front end, was it? That thing will rip through anything.....except another 80's Volvo with the cow catcher front end.....

I feel your pain man, I was in a similar accident a month ago, the dude ran a red light and total'd my FC. You didn't mention it, but I'm assuming you didn't sustain any injuries? I'm sorry to see another RX-7 go like this, it really is tragic. I hope everything goes smoothly with insurance and what not. Best of luck man.

I feel your pain man - Hwy 7 & Rodick is a tricky intersection. Plus, Hwy 7 is a magnet for bad drivers.

That Volvo paid for her safety vehicle - make'm pay for your rotary vehicle.

Yeah it was those 80's volvo's

SavannaFC I saw your post, I felt like crap too, like out of all vehicles, just had to be an RX7 yeah luckily no injuries incredible thinking that the driver of the other car was flooring it when they hit me

Yeah I tend to notice Hwy.7 is a concentration of bad drivers who think they're race car drivers after playing their latest arcade game (No offense to those who play and are actually good drivers)

Wow, that would be awesome, but I'm going to see what the insurance is going to do, maybe my plan is to move the parts onto a roller and if damages aren't too bad I'll contact you guys. But for sure there is major axle damage and hopefully no frame damage

I just wish I can get back at the driver for all this... Legally

Well... what's up is that the insurance company claimed the car, such a sad lost... I'm going to try to get as much from the insurance as possible. Hopefully if possible save for a new FD and buy parts from the car and come back into the rotary scene. Gonna stay away from this site for a while.

Yeah, well not completely sure of the situation at this moment, but insurance might pay for repairs depending if we want to or not. Man, me and Zhe wanted to meet up with you Ka Kui but I guess we can't anymore. Depending on the insurance...

I think that was Graham's old RX-7. I believe he was the orig. owner from Georgetown with the Aldstat Rims.
