Need some advice - insurance claim - deer

Need some advice from some one that has been in this situation. I was on my way home today in my girlfriends car when a deer jumped in front of me, the car is pretty messed up and it will be a right off if it goes through insurance.... the car is a 2001 two door sunfire, she has full coverage comp and collision but they will probably only give $2000 if we are lucky, is it worth putting a claim through? will they put her at fault? will she pay premiums? we have 48 hours to file a accident report so i need to figure this out soon!

Put a claim through. If the deer ran in front of you, your not at fault. You can negotiate with the insurance company and they pay more than you think. My cousin just wrote off a 99 neon and was paid 3 grand for the car, and it was rusted out completely! They base their prices off replacement value, so retail price not wholesale or auction.

Deer hit is a comprehensive claim, it won't affect your rates - unless you have a few of them, in which case they'll increase your premiums solely because they had to spend money on you.

These are your choices:

Don't claim it, pay to fix the car yourself or pay to buy another car yourself.
Claim it and get what you can.

I know what I'd pick - I pay to insure so when I need it I can use it.

And let us know how much they give you. I have on 02 Sunfire that I hate, so it would be nice to know what I can get if a deer (read: telephone pole) jumps in front of me.

I hit a Raccoon with the RX7..a couple years back.
I just saw it out of the corner of my Eye.,It Ripped the whole Fender liner Right Out of the Driver's front wheel. Then went under the car and shot it out the rear wheels.
My Buddy said it was about 35 Pounds, and he found it with the Liner Lodged in it's Body!.I thought it was a Freakin DOG!(ya it was HUGE!)..It was upsetting that I actually hit something,SOBER!
So,I feel for ya..

did you just leave the deer there? could have taken it to the butchers and got some good meat out of it

You keep what you kill.. lol

I would've gone through insurance as well it looks like the rad support was mangled on that one

when i used to go to blue mountain every weekend I'd always see a deer at the side of the road at night luckily never hit one
