Ya the ad did say it was an '87, that kind of caught me by surprise when I picked it up. Guess I beat you to it man.

On another note, got word today that my tires won't be in for another month or better so I guess I'll have to swap my american racing wheels from my GXL to this car for a while.
Nice find. Really nice.
I'm pretty sure those aren't the original tires - they came with Bridgestone Potenza RE71's, an 80's directional "supercar" tire, and those are Bridgestones, but not RE71s.

I'll check that, I know they are Bridgestone Potenzas and they are a funky directional tread. They are marked inside/outside on the tire. The original tire warranty slip is also in with the owners manual so I can verify that way as well.
it's all good buggy, i was just hoping nobody buys it now and id make some deal and get it next year when i get better financially. at least a rotard got it instead of some dumbass whod just mess it up.
i wouldve ended saying no anyway since its an 88. hopefully ill find the one i want next year : )

I checked the tires, they're Potenza RE940's so I guess they aren't original. I'm guessing though they are the second set its had because they are older than the hills as well.

I was surprised to find while searching for a pic of the RE71s that you can still buy new RE71s - but only in sizes to fit the Porsche 959, where a run-flat version with a different bead for the special wheels of the 959 was made.

Again, real nice find. I'm kinda jealous -lol

I slapped my Fast FC01's on it tonight and for the time being it has some half worn out potenzas that came stock on a Toyota. They're 215/50R17's but they'll do untill my Sumitomo HTRZ III's arrive. Then I'll be cooking with 225/45's up front and 255/40's in the rear. That should make it stick!

Right on, and thanks for the comments. Good luck with the body work. After that's over with the fun of assembly begins. Then you really get to see your creation take shape. I enjoyed that part of building the Rx-4, but it can also be a headache when things don't fit the way you had planned.

It really was a fantastic deal, I kept thinking about that as I drove it around tonight. For that same price you could go out and buy a crappy 6 year old econobox with like 150,000kms on it OR you could get this car. It needs a few little things done here and there, but it's pretty much mint! I have a to do list for Joe (classicauto) to take care of in the spring, but mostly minor things like dents, scratches, roll front fenders, ect.
