my new RX...
No, unfortunately it does not have a rotary engine (although i do like boxer engines too).
It's a 2005 WRX, picked it up from the states on Canada Day. it's my year-round car now. it had about 25k km when i got it, never winter driven, and pretty much exactly the mods that i wanted.
i am loving it so far.

i got it for over $20k before tax and fees.
a little pricey compared to what they usually go for in the states, but it is worth it to me with the extras. the wheels alone cost $800 each if you can find them anymore.
i was going to buy a slightly cheaper, more stock, one. but realized i would be spending money anyway to put all the mods on.
plus it's got the premium package i was looking for with heated seats, mirrors, and wiper blades.

thanks guys.
and honestly it is a fairly practical car, well at least compared to the FC, heh.
it will do me just fine in the winter i bet (just have to get some winter wheels/tires).
these cars are much more available in the US and are for the most part in much better condition.

Don't EVER talk down to the mighty TACO!! Oh, and have you heard about the frame buy back for frame corrosion?
hey, being in a ditch is a perfectly conceivable situation in the winter!
well not only did i not want to spend 5 to 10k more, but i did not actually want an STI.
(but you know in the US there are STIs going for as low as 20k).
the thing is it's very hard to find an STI that was not beat on, and i am not a fan of the fluorescent interior and huge wing.
this car was also completely mint and well taken care of by an enthusiast. even though it was not winter driven, the guy hand painted the suspension and underside bits with rust paint! plus with some of the extras on the car the power is pretty close to an STI. so that is my explanation of that.
