My first "hassling" of '09!

They're off to an early start!!

Cliff notes of interest:

Cop- You have nitrous oxide on this car?
me- no
cop- well then whats all this stuff back here? (points to fuse panel on my rear bin)
me- its a fuse panel
cop- for nitrous??
me- no. I told you, there's no nitrous on this car, you're welcome to look for a bottle, but you'd be wasting your time.
cop- hid it away huh?
me- face palm.................no.

.......................

cop- whats this (points at boost gauge)
me- a boost gauge
cop- oh yeah, what do you run?
me- depends, but between 10 and 20psi
cop- of what?
me- what? walnuts>???? I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're asking
cop- i asked what boost do you run?
me- i told you. Between 10 and 20psi.
cop- PSI of what?? Nitrous????
me- no, air. air pressure. PSI of air pressure.
cop- really........

.........................

cop- whats this? (points to water injection nozzle)
me- water injection nozzle
cop- what?
me- water injection. It sprays water in the engine.
cop- really? Not nitrous?
me- yes not nitrous. Its water, you're welcome to go ahead and look in the tank if you don't believe me.
cop- well, i don't. A car wouldn't run if you sprayed water into it, I wasn't born yesterday - open it up!

BTW he looked in the tank, and he wouldn't let me drink the water to show him it wasn't nitrous!

That is honestly funny...As long as you don't run windshield washer fluid for your water/meth injection.

Wish I could have been riding shotty haha.

Wait wait wait. He said he wasn't born yesterday? Could have fooled me. You should have drank it anyway, it's your car and he can't stop you. You should have just went into a longwinded speech about the benefits of water injection. And isn't nitrous oxide only a liquid when it's compressed. Isn't it a gas when it's released from that pressure? Would be kind of hard to keep it in a tank made for liquid.

****, some people are stupid.

Wow, all I can say is WOW! He must have been the kid huffing spray paint fumes in auto shop class. Just off the record though, are you SURE that isn't nitrous in that water tank??? He probably got his education from that brochure that Aaron had on here from the auto show. If they really want to enforce these laws they're putting out, they should at least educate the cops properly so they don't look like such Rtards. You should have told him it's a rotary engine and really messed with his head.

Yeah, that would've just opened up a whole new can:

you: The water is to keep the temperatures down on the rotors.
Him: brake rotors?
you: No, engine rotors.
Him: I wasn't born yesterday, all cars have pistons. Open it up.

Lol!

this is funny man. did he think if he kept pointing to stuff and asking if it had to do with nitrous you would eventually pleed guilty if you were hiding it? haha. some people. and to actually say "I wasnt born yestarday" oh, thats prescious. lol. how did you keep from laughing in his face?

There, fixed it for you.

Joe: As I was reading that, I was thinking "please drink the water, please drink the water". You need to tuck a bendy and/or twisty straw under the hood for next time.

Dam Crap ****, its hardly the middle of April and this is what to expect for driving a nice ride.
I had two of those near the end of last year and don't look forward to all the stupid questions
and inuendo of wrong doing besides enjoying the spinning of 2 triangles and life.
These same untrained individuals will be judge and jury at roadside for our protection?
Although the experience can be comical, it can also be driving future altering with a bad mix
of inexperienced officer and car enthusiast enjoying some spirited driving.

Good luck all you RotorHeads for a Hassle free summer of spinning triangles.

Well I wouldn't go that far. I dated a girl for over two years, whose father was a cop and he was no idiot with cars. Maintained a 80 something VW Cabriolet, and a mid 80's Pontiac Parisienne (Chevy Caprice) which was a dream to drive. Very nice man and very smart. However I also got pulled over just after I got my license in my moms Saturn and his reason for pulling me over was my plates were about to expire. The NEXT month. His actual reason was there was a young kid with two friends in a car, so I must have stolen it. So you see there are good and there are bad. Unfortunately the good stories come from dealing with the shitty cops.

You can have a bottle in the car, but it can not be hooked up.

The intent of the law is that the bottle can not be connected to a nitrous system (i.e., the hose hose can not be connected to the tank), but some cops have interpereted it to mean the bottle can not be connected to the car (i.e. attached to the mounting bracket).

And yes, you read that right: There are cops who would instruct you to leave a 50 lb, highly pressurized torpedo loose in your trunk. You know, for safety's sake.

Fucktards.

Classic's story is on one hand laughable, but man, how thick does the guy have to be? Does their training consist of watching the FnF movies? Can he even spell NOS? Or does he think it's NAAAWWS!

They're not all retards, but as I've noted previously, policing tends to attract a couple of different personality types (and this is not just my uninformed opinion, it comes from back in my undergrad days taking sociology and criminology courses). One is the earnest, wants to improve the world sort - and I've met a good many of those, at my church, at my car club and the track, and when I used to teach high school, school resource officers. The second type that tends to be attracted to policing is the schoolyard bully, grown up, but still with a desire to exercise power and authority over others. I've met a good few cops like this, too - and somehow they mostly seem to end up on traffic detail. Police forces tend to be heavy with one type or the other - they find each other, or the existing force ethic tends to push out those who don't fit, or bend them to fit. Ontario's Fantino seems to belong to the bully crowd, and Toronto (the Force he headed before becoming Provincial Police Poobah), is one of those forces in Canada with a long reputation for being heavy with the bully-type.

"Sir, thats the watering system for the gerbils that run the engine, i have to add at least 4 teaspoons of peanut butter to the oil and had to get a custom drinking system put in after i went to the aftermarket 2 gerbil engine. " then shrug your best i dunno shrug an say "rotary's man, who knows"

I suspect that modified cars are, generally not involved in collisions any more than any other cars (maybe less.). So, I asked the Ministry for stats on modified cars involved in collisions. This is their reply:

"Transport Canada has received your e-mail. We will reply in a timely manner to English and French enquiries only.
Thank you for contacting us."

That was the beginning of March... no further response to date.

If they even keep track of modified cars and relative collision rates, they may have a different definition of modified than you or I, or most of the people on this forum might have. I suspect they might include all the 18year olds sticking big wings, 2" drop springs, 18" wheels and fart-can exhaust tips on their 100hp Civics and Golfs and V6 or 4 cyl Fox-body Mustangs - and those ricers probably do have high accident rates. Amongst the slightly more mature, real performance - improved handling, braking, and acceleration - are the objectives, not bling looks on a McDonald's paycheck - and I suspect we probably have lower-than-average accident rates. But I doubt a government agency would make the distinction - or understand the question.

Any cop that is ACTUALLY looking for nitrous on a car, should at least know what he's looking at. Take a few hours on a weekend and go to the dragway for "Introduction to car's your mom never leant you 101" and you'd probably be much more effective at weeding out those rowdy street racers!

Wow. Really funny, but also shocking. I really feel bad for all you guys in Ontario. It sickens me to think how good people are paying taxes to be harassed by the authorities.
