Moving to Vancouver

Hi, so I'm in the process of getting PR and trying to figure out if its worth trying to bring my FD with me or if I should just sell it here in Hawaii and buy something new once I'm living in Vancouver.

The riv site and what people I've talked to said vary from each other so I wanted to see if anyone had first hand experience with a modded rx7 to see if I'd have issues importing it.

The main concerns I have were the carbon hood and hatch, all emissions equipment is gone, single turbo, hotwaterlabs headlights, and racing seats.

It shouldn't be a RIV issue, since the only thing that used to hold up US FDs was the weaker front bumper, and the stronger Canadian spec one is no longer required. You would have to get a BC out-of-province inspection done as well though, so headlights might be an issue there - can any BC peeps speak up?

Here's a link to the BC vehicle inspection form - it does mention exhaust and cat, so that might be an issue, even though BC is doing away with AirCare emissions testing. http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/CVSE/vehicle...PDF/MV3199.pdf

importing shouldnt be a problem if you're going to be a PR. I imported my FD from the US. Follow the steps in the RIV site and some info from this local forum here

Importing Vehicle Information Canada/USA / Buying from Out-of-Province - REVscene Automotive Forum

Emissions testing is going to be gone by the end of this year so you wont have deal with getting it to pass.

Your carbon hood/hatch/turbo are not a problem and will not affect importation. Headlights are questionable if they are not DOT approved but I'd doubt it'll be a problem.

.
Emissions testing will be gone, but the form for OOP inspection still shows that the inspector needs to visually confirm emissions system components are present, so that might be an issue.

Anybody more familiar with the BC OOP care to chime in? Or, best yet, just call a lower mainland shop that can do OOP inspections and find out from the horse's mouth what would prevent a pass.
