MIR Lapping - May 22, 2009
This lapping day will be held at Mosport International Raceway. Convertibles must have a roll bar that extends 2" above your helmet. There will be two groups of 26 cars - 30 minutes on track/30 minutes off. This event will include professional marshals, ambulance on-site, tow truck on-site and the entry fee is $325 for the day including lunch. Currently the event is 50% full. For more details go to: Mosport May 22, 2009 or PM me.
This event is for drivers who have track experience and you must apply for this event. Drivers who have not driven Mosport before MUST sign up for a coach at an extra $100 fee. Experienced drivers who want to enhance their driving skills may also sign up for a coach.
There will be a couple of RX7's there (right Jim?) and a lot of great guys.
Take care,
Frank

I've got some great coaches lined up to assist guys new to this track. Costs more but it's the only way I'll let novices in, will be safer for you, you'll be smiling at the end of the day, and the coach will only be assigned to only 'one novice to this track' for the day.

I've been to Mosport before in 2007 for full track days, last year it just seemed every Mosport day that cropped up I could never make it. And then the day I finally did make it, I was running too much boost and AFR was too lean (bad combination but I was testing the cars limits all the time) so I only lasted 4 laps before my tune popped the motor. I'm a Mosport noob but I only say that because my days at Mosport in 2007 were still on street tires and my car was pretty much stock, and I was still in the learning phase.
This summer I was at the track almost every weekend (went through 2 sets of Hoosiers and half a set of BFG R1's) and thanks to Jimmy giving me pointers and helping me out along the way, I learned a lot. I'm not pro. by any means and Jimmy is still a way better driver then me but I know enough that I can learn new tracks on my own without doing anything unsafe. Just take it slow throughout the day and the rest will come naturally from my experience. Mosport isn't new to me, I just haven't had a day to learn the optimal lines.
Anyway, if I have to have a coach I have to have a coach, your the organizer and all but I really like learning at my own pace and then getting pointers after I feel I am comfortable with my lines.

I usually see Jim a couple of times every lap!
And Wird, email me. I know you've got lots of track time but I wasn't aware that you did the big track in 07. BTW, These coaches are great for guys who've been there many times, let alone newbies.

Is this event ran by Howard Dexter? My old man used to run these open laps in his silver rx-7 (STUCKA for those who may know him), and he would be constantly be yellow flagged (or just flagged) all the time for riding the *** out of vets and other expensive cars, and getting complaints from them due to his first gen out doing these much more expensive cars. It used to **** these vett boys and the Porsche boys off. These cars had no chance in hell running from him in the coroners. Its good times, anyone who can afford it, go for it.

Very cool!!! With this crazy weather I hope it's all clear. I'm planning to have my E30 tested in time for the April MoSport school but last time the track had ice on it at times... glad I missed the school. It'd be great to do a big track lapping day, this is the first time I've heard of it - it's usually Dunnville or DDT or something like that.
