I'd been the only Mazda racing out here for a while, but starting this year we have a Spec Miata series running at AMP. Title sponsorship from Toyo Tire, and one of the local dealerships signed up for deals on parts, but no involvement from Mazda corporate. Small so far, but a few more cars in build, a couple more people looking to buy. Have to start somewhere.
As I've said before, I'd be happy if Mazda Canada would just partner up with the team support in the US, so we could order as per usual, but have it fulfill from the Canadian warehouse and not have to deal with all the shipping/duty etc. It would still be a net money-maker for them, and should just almost nothing to implement as I've actually had parts fulfill from Canada before anyway.
No invite/email for me, but given the distance I'm not expecting it.
(As an aside, saw your sister-Cougar at the track here on the weekend. Nice looking car. John was saying it's fast, but was having some brake problems they were working on so didn't have much time to talk to him.)

Don't forget Atlantic Canada.

Should be fast when he sorts out the brakes. Apparently it has a rock hard pedal.. to the point that he can't get the thing to slow down.
I'm just wondering if all those years of CRXs made him soft.

Actually, mine did the same thing last year. I could push on the brake pedal for all I was worth and the car wouldn't stop. I got everything working again by flushing out all the caliper bleeds (inside and outside), running clean fluid through all the lines and compressing the pistons back into the calipers as far back as they would go to brake them free of any corrosion that may have developed.
After I did that and had everything working freely, I then had to really work the pedal hard during on-track sessions to get the brakes up to temp before the pads would grip. If he still has the same pads in the car, they need to work between 600 and 1100 degrees F. If they are below that temp level then they are like stones and the car won't stop no matter what. Either he has to drive the car harder to raise the temps or he has to change the pads for a softer material.

Nonetheless a very nice freebie for those who got that email.
Star Mazda, among others, was great when I saw it last year at GP3R. Took some very nice pics as I found a nice spot to stand in uncharted territories. I was litteraly standing on top of the cars as they went by. Even Nascar was impressive on that road course.

Go Hard....or Go Home
Just resolved my 2 year old brake issue. Even the 4 piston calipers are tapering brake pad. We measured them and they had a 2mm taper from to back. Switch them on each race inside to outside (if you can and the brake issue goes away.

Camping passes are available from the Mosport website (click on store), they're about $45 and are valid for one vehicle only, as many campers as you bring with you. They do come around and check occasionally so it's not a bad idea to buy one.
We'll be camping on corner 3 (outside), feel free to crash near/with us. We have a DJ playing Saturday night, likely a keg for a pitch-in.

so i didn't immediately respond, and doesn't seem like I'll be getting the tickets. I sent an e-mail back to the address that sent us the e-mail, but I doubt a response. Ka Kui, I may be down to cruise down though if I can manage to work something out for the tickets.

Well no package as of yet, so I emailed MCI this morning. Maybe you all should do the same?

Good Day Gentlemen,*
Well, it's July 18th and no Invitation package as of yet. Just letting you know as your RSVP mention the*package*should arrive by July 16th and with less than a week I figured I should let you know.
No matter what, maybe a company representative may want to drop by the DDT at Mosport on the 24th (Same Weekend) as a large number of*enthusiasts with Mazda Rotary-Powered cars ranging from RX-7 FC's to RX-8 R3's will be taking part in Sigma's Time Attack.
Thanks

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I am not doing the 4hr drive without any confirmation about this Mazda offer.
Rick, I'm still gonna drive out to your place if it all works out. PM me your address pls.
