Looking to get Coilovers for my FD

Hey guys,

I'm stuck on choosing a set of coilovers for my FD which I can use on the streets and the tracks.

These are a few thats on my mind:

-Ohlins PCV 11k/11k
-Tein MonoFlex 14k/12k
-Apexi N1 12k/12k

I don't mind to give up a little from street to gain at the track, but not so much that every time I go over a bump I curse in my head lol

If any members have coilovers (doesn't have to be the 3 I named) installed please share your experiences with your set ups.

Thanks for your input!

Hey, you can contact wei from neo motorsports good friend of mine and sponsor for my fc time attack car im building!!, the Neo motorsport coilovers are super great!!, proper dampning adj with proper valving! !, can get any spring rate shortened shock for the neo greens and honestly best bang for your buck!!!, im not saying ohh they are the best because of him being my good friend and sponsor, im saying all of this because they are actually really good!!!!, its local, can warrenty right on the spot with new ones, can get any spring rate you want, aluminum body pillowball plates and etc.. I rocked neos on all my cars my suby, vdub, civic, ms3 and wont be going back to anything else besides moton, and penske racing!! But yea if you want a deal call Alan (wei) at http://www.neo-motorsport.com and tell wei that patrick burdon sent you he should cut you a better deal!!

Thanks

I currently have the Tein Mono Flex on my FD, and I wouldn't go for anything else. I haven't had any experience with the N1 nor the PCV so I can't compare. Needless to say, the MF are very smooth and comfortable on the street at the softer setting and still offer insane stability in cornering. At the hardest setting, which is the one I use all the time, it's simply ridiculous. They still remain very comfortable, even on some harsh roads, and they deliver the performance you would expect from them on nice winding ones. One more interesting point with MF is the compatibility with the EDFC. It's great to be able to adjust the dampening from the inside of the car, especially on the streets.. you never know when you're gonna run into a shitty road. I have yet to hit the circuit with the MF, but a friend of mine uses the same coilovers on his S2K and he loves them.. especially when pushed to their full potential Hope this help with you choice!

I was running Showa sp's and they were amazing! I switched to a new setup this year tho. The others you mentioned are going to be very uncomfortable with that bushing kit you have. 12k front and back is really stuff and won't be as forgiving with bumps.
Pat knows his coil setups pretty well so I'd vouch for what he's thinking

Look into HSD, I can at least tell you that I have used them and they work fine on or off track plus they are available from local shops. A good spring rate set-up for your needs are 10kg front and 8kg rear.

I love my Ohlins on my FD and will buy these for my RX-8 as well.

Because of the DFV blow off valves they ride very nicely on the street. Don't be scared by the spring rates, they rode considerably better than my stock springs and GAB Super Rs.

My friend said it made my FD ride like his 5 series BMW on the recommended settings.

I don't have experience with other coilovers on the FD chassis, but tried JIC FLT-A2s, JIC, FLT-TARs and Stance XRs on my FC and I can say damping has much more to do with ride quality than spring rate.

Now when I drive my stock Mazda3 and RX-8 I shudder as I can feel the tires lose contact with the pavement over rough patches or thump over bumps, the Ohlins have spoiled me.
