If there one thing I like more than French Toast and Gravy, its a Delorean.

What kinda price premiums these gems command these days? Anyone know?

$9,000 for a rough one, $21,000 - $28,000 for one that needs very little work

What you see in that vid isn't special effects - he hooked a 3 colour controller to the car's electrics

That aint that bad considering. I seen that one 3-rotor with the 993 Porsche Tranny awhile back and thought it would a neat setup.

I have 1 of the 3 major components. Perhaps its a feezable Idea?

The 3 rotor sold for far less than he was originally asking, IIRC, so perhaps there were longevity issies. Or the 3 rotor is just a heavy engine to have hagning off the rear axle.

I've posted an extremely clean Lotus V8 swap in these pages before; the guy did amazing work, made it look like the Delorean was designed around that engine. It's gorgeous.A Lotus V8 is far smaller and lighter than you might imagine, and since Lotus did the engineering for the car itself the two share vehicular DNA.

Of course, I think the car would have been more successful had it turned the engine around and gone mid-engine.

Well that's just strange... Honestly I don't really know what to say about it.

same reaction here

Glad you saw this thread. i'd originally titled it "Li'l pressie for Aaron" but it got modded.

BTW, do you know why the stainless backbone costs almost as much as a Delorean itself? I know limited production is a bear, but it's not like the frame is a complicated shape - just simple kerfed metal welded together.

You mean the Pearce Designs frame? I would assume they are all hand built out of a very specific stainless alloy to prevent cracking. Probably takes a talented welder to put it all together.

I'm planning on using one if their frames for my DeLorean, as soon as I finally get around to buying the thing anyway...I'll have them add mounts for the Porsche transmission and 20B to save me the trouble.

it's a system you can buy that turns your exterior lights into a sort of illuminated EQ bar from the stereo signal
